National Pizza Party Day is today, Friday, May 15th! What could be better than a Friday night pizza party? Everyone loves pizza, but being able to share it amongst your favourite people makes it even better!

The first use of the word pizza was in 997 CE in a 10th-century Latin text. The first pizzeria was then opened in 1830 in Naples. Did you know that in 2001, Pizza Hut paid for and executed the first pizza delivery to space? They delivered it to the International Space Station to an astronaut, Yuri Usachov.

Pizza has been around for centuries, but it somehow never gets old. Celebrate National Pizza Party Day by sharing a pizza with someone you care about!

Today is Bond with Your Dog Day! A day dedicated to spending quality time with your furry friend. Dogs are incredibly affectionate and loyal, so this is a day for us to return the favour. This day was created in 2021 to strengthen the bond between dogs and owners while touching on mental health.

Did you know they believe dogs were domesticated over 20,000 years ago? However, the very first veterinary school was opened many years later, in 1761.

May 12th is recognized as International Fibromyalgia Awareness Day! It was created to raise understanding of the condition and the impacts on those affected.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic and invisible condition that affects 2 million Canadians. Those with fibromyalgia experience widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances and cognitive. Fibromyalgia is frequently misunderstood because it's not a visible illness. It is considered invisible because people may appear healthy or fully functional, but they experience constant pain. The goal of International Fibromyalgia Awareness Day is to foster empathy, understanding and action to encourage improvements in diagnosis, treatment and support services.

Chiropractic care can be extremely beneficial for those with fibromyalgia. Chiropractic care works on the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, removing interference to reduce pain and increase mobility. Since fibromyalgia affects the musculoskeletal system, chiropractic care can be very effective in managing pain and other symptoms.

This Saturday, May 9th, is Stay Up All Night Day! It is a day that celebrates the thrill and challenge of trying to stay up all night. It is a day dedicated to fun. It encourages people to do various activities such as watching movies, reading or spending time with friends and family.

This day also has a deeper meaning by honouring and acknowledging those who have to stay up to work nights. It shines a light on how difficult it can be to work nights, as many healthcare workers and shift workers do.

Although staying up all night can be thrilling, it should definitely not become a habit unless you work nights. This is especially true if you're not staying up by choice. It is estimated that 48% of Canadian adults have difficulty sleeping.
