🐾🪥 PRO TIPS FOR BRUSHING YOUR PET’S TEETH AT HOME! 😺🐶

Brushing your pet’s teeth might sound tricky, but with the right approach, it can be a stress-free part of their dental care routine — and a huge help in preventing plaque, tartar, and bad breath!

✨ Top Tips for Success:
✔️ Use Pet-Safe Toothpaste Only: Human toothpaste contains fluoride, which is toxic to pets. Always use a toothpaste made specifically for dogs or cats.
✔️ Start Slow: Let your pet taste the toothpaste first. Begin by gently rubbing their teeth and gums with your finger or a soft cloth.
✔️ Use the Right Brush: A small, soft-bristled toothbrush or a finger brush works best.
✔️ Short & Positive Sessions: Keep brushing sessions brief at first, and reward your pet with praise or a treat afterward.
✔️ Focus on the Outer Surfaces: Pets usually don’t allow brushing the inside surfaces, so prioritize the outside where plaque tends to build up most.
✔️ Consistency is Key: Even a few times per week is better than never — consistency is what makes a difference!

💡 Tip: Combine brushing with dental chews, dental diets, and regular veterinary checkups for a complete dental care routine.
A little patience and the right tools go a long way in keeping your furry friend’s smile healthy and happy! 🐾💙

🚨 Top 10 Pet Toxins of 2025 🚨

Pet Poison Helpline releases a yearly list of the most common toxins affecting dogs and cats. While this data is U.S.-based, these substances are just as commonly found in Canadian homes and pose the same risks to our pets.
Saving this list could help you act quickly in an emergency. If you ever think your pet may have ingested something toxic, contact your veterinarian or an emergency clinic right away.

Need an alternative to Teeth Brushing??
🐾💧 KEEP YOUR PET’S SMILE HEALTHY WITH DENTAL WATER ADDITIVES! 🦷😺🐶

Did you know that dental water additives can be an easy, stress-free way to support your pet’s oral health at home?

✨ How Dental Water Additives Help:
✔️ Reduce Plaque & Tartar: Helps prevent buildup that leads to gum disease.
✔️ Fight Bad Breath: Keeps your pet’s breath fresher between brushings.
✔️ Easy to Use: Just add to your pet’s water bowl daily — no brushing stress!
✔️ Supports Overall Health: Healthy gums can help prevent infections that affect the heart, kidneys, and liver.

💡 Tip: Dental water additives work best as part of a complete dental care routine — combine with brushing, dental chews, and regular vet checkups.
Give your furry friend the gift of a cleaner mouth and fresher breath — one sip at a time! 🐾💙

🦷 What Does the VOHC Seal Mean? 🦷

Not all dental products are created equal! When you see the VOHC seal on dental diets, chews, treats, or water additives, it means the product has been scientifically tested and proven to help reduce plaque and/or tartar.

✔️ Backed by research
✔️ Proven effectiveness
✔️ Helps support oral health at home

💡 Our tip: When choosing dental products for your pet, look for the VOHC seal — it takes the guesswork out of what actually works.

Ask us if you’re not sure which option is best for your pet!

🦷 Why Dental X-Rays Matter 🦷

This is a great example of why we take dental radiographs, even when things don’t look too bad on the surface.

📸 What you can see clinically:
Around this tooth, there’s only mild gum recession and gingivitis — something that can look pretty minor during an exam.

🩻 What the X-ray shows:
About 75% bone loss around front root and 50% bone loss of back root of the tooth — something we cannot see just by looking.

💡 The takeaway:
Gum disease often starts below the gumline, and X-rays help us:
✔️ Detect hidden bone loss
✔️ Catch problems earlier
✔️ Plan the right treatment
✔️ Help protect teeth long-term

Healthy smiles aren’t just about what you can see — they’re also about what’s happening underneath.

✨ Before & After ✨

This wasn’t just a routine cleaning.
One tooth had extra gum tissue (gingival hyperplasia) that was trapping plaque and making it hard to keep clean.

🦷 Along with the cleaning, we gently reshaped the gum around that single tooth to improve access, reduce inflammation, and support healthier gums.

💡 Sometimes small, targeted treatment makes a big difference!

Brrr… it’s getting cold out there! ❄️🐾
Elway (our Veterinary assistant/ receptionist Jenn's dog) is all bundled up and ready for winter with boots to protect those paw pads from ice and salt, a cozy sweater to stay warm, and a hat to keep his ears happy. 🧣👢🐶
As temps drop, remember our pets feel the cold too—limit time outside, protect their paws, and add a little extra warmth when needed. Stay safe and snug out there! 💙

Dental Home Care Tips
🐾🦷 PET DENTAL HOME CARE TIPS! 😺🐶

Healthy teeth = a healthier, happier pet! Dental issues are common in pets, but with a little home care, you can help prevent pain, infection, and costly treatments.

✨ Easy At-Home Dental Care Tips for Your Pets:
🪥 1. Brush Their Teeth Regularly
Use a pet-safe toothbrush and toothpaste (never human toothpaste!). Daily is best, however; even a few times a week makes a big difference.
🦴 2. Offer Dental Chews & Toys
These help reduce plaque buildup and keep your pet entertained at the same time.
🥣 3. Choose Dental-Friendly Diets
Some foods and treats are specially designed to support dental health—ask your vet for recommendations.
💧 4. Add Dental Water Additives
A simple way to freshen breath and fight bacteria daily.
👀 5. Check Their Mouth Weekly
Look for red gums, bad breath, broken teeth, or tartar buildup. Early detection helps prevent serious problems.
🩺 6. Don’t Skip Professional Cleanings
Regular veterinary checkups and dental cleanings keep your pet’s mouth in top shape.

💛 A little dental care at home can help keep those furry smiles bright!
