✨ The holidays aren’t always joyful for everyone ✨
For some, the holidays bring stress, conflict, or painful reminders of loss. Family dynamics, past grief, and personal expectations can make this season feel overwhelming rather than celebratory.
As a therapist, I often remind clients that it’s okay to feel whatever comes up, including anger, sadness, anxiety, or even relief. These feelings are valid, and acknowledging them is the first step toward navigating them with compassion.
Here are a few gentle strategies to consider:
* Set boundaries: It’s okay to say no or limit time with people who drain your energy.
* Plan self-care: Schedule moments that bring you calm, joy, or rest.
* Normalize your feelings: You don’t have to “perform happiness.” Feeling stressed or sad doesn’t make you weak.
* Seek support: Talking to a friend, family member, or therapist can help you feel seen and understood.
Remember: this season doesn’t have to look perfect. Your emotional health matters more than a flawless holiday.
