Menopause is a natural biological process during which the ovaries gradually decrease the production of reproductive hormones. You are considered to have officially reached menopause after going twelve consecutive months without a period. These significant hormonal changes can lead to symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings, sleep disturbances, anxiety and even depression; however, each person's experience varies. In addition, many women experience genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), a range of symptoms that directly impact the urinary and ge***al systems, such as urinary frequency and urgency, recurrent infections, vaginal dryness, and painful in*******se.

Many people think that cancer automatically comes with symptoms, assuming you would know if you had it. Unfortunately, that is 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦.

Often, prostate cancer symptoms, like trouble urinating and ED, only develop in the later stages of the disease. This is why it is 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 to start prostate cancer testing at 50, or 45 if you have higher risk factors, and to continue regular screenings.

🧑‍⚕️ Consult your healthcare professional about your cancer risk factors and develop a plan for prostate cancer testing!

There are many treatment options for prostate cancer; the best choice for each person will depend on several factors, such as cancer stage, age, medical history and more.

👀 Active surveillance is a strategy that involves close monitoring of the cancer, with a plan to remove the cancer if it ever demonstrates more aggressive behaviour.

⏰ Watchful waiting is typically reserved for men with serious health concerns or a limited life expectancy. This approach involves careful observation of the cancer, with a plan to start treatment to suppress the cancer once it displays more aggressive behaviour.

🩻 Radiation treatments aim to eradicate the cancer cells while preserving the normal prostate tissue. This often requires multiple sessions to treat the cancer effectively.

🧑‍⚕️ Surgery refers to a radical prostatectomy, which is the complete removal of the prostate gland from the body. This procedure also necessitates reconstructing the bladder to reattach it to the urethra.

🔪 The NanoKnife delivers short electric pulses at very high voltage between the electrodes, leading to the death of cancer cells. Only these cancer cells are affected, while surrounding structures such as nerves, the urethra and the sphincter remain unharmed.
