According to Gabor Maté, there are certain personality features common among those struggling with chronic illness. It's a fascinating read that really makes you think! 🤔

So, what's that common trait?

🧠 Self-suppression and/or repression.

At the root, these are coping patterns, adaptations originally formed to preserve something essential and non-negotiable.

🌟 Ready for more? Here’s the list of common traits:

🔹 Automatic and compulsive concern for the emotional needs of others, while ignoring one’s own.

🔹 Rigid identification with social role, duty, and responsibility.

🔹 Overdriven, externally focused multitasking hyper-responsibility. One must always be DOING and GIVING to justify their existence.

🔹 Repression of healthy, self-protective aggression and anger.

🔹 Harboring and acting out two beliefs:
I am responsible for how other people feel.
I must never disappoint anyone.

How we manage it can significantly impact our health.

Did you know that getting an extra hour of sleep each night can lead to major health benefits, including weight loss? 💤

A recent study found that individuals who extended their sleep duration consumed an average of 270 fewer calories per day, which could translate to a weight loss of around 26 pounds over three years if the habit is maintained (UChicago Medicine)​ (University of Chicago News). This highlights the powerful connection between sleep and overall well-being.

This is a mega goal for me and something I personally struggle with in a big way. So, here are some tips:

Prioritize Sleep: Make a conscious effort to go to bed earlier. This simple change can help you feel more rested and reduce late-night snacking.

Plan Your Day: Use tools like calendars and to-do lists to manage your time effectively, ensuring you have time for exercise, meal prep, and relaxation.

Limit Distractions: Identify and minimize activities that waste time, such as excessive screen time, to make room for health-promoting activities.

Imagine waiting endlessly for the care you need. Each day feels like a battle against uncertainty and fear. The emotional toll of not knowing when you'll get help can be overwhelming. 😞⏳⁠

🎥 The Hardest Shift to Make After a Burnout Setback 🌟

Interestingly, according to research, a significant percentage of people who overcome burnout do not return to their previous job. For example, a study found that many individuals who experienced burnout found better job satisfaction and mental health after transitioning to a new role rather than returning to their old job (Psychology Today)​ (Psychology Today)​ (Science of People).

Recording a coaching course has been an incredible journey and one I'm still chipping away at as part of major career shifts.

Stepping into the digital content creator realm comes with its challenges, especially when it comes to getting in front of the camera. Here are the top three fears that often hold entrepreneurs back:

🚀 Fear of Judgment: Many worry about what others will think or say about their appearance, voice, or content. This fear can be paralyzing and prevent them from sharing valuable insights and connecting with their audience.

🚀 Perfectionism: The desire to create flawless content can lead to endless retakes and procrastination. This need for perfection often stops creators from publishing anything at all.

🚀 Lack of Confidence: Not feeling confident in one's abilities or knowledge can make the idea of speaking on camera daunting. This fear often stems from self-doubt and can be overcome with practice and positive reinforcement.

These fears are common but can be conquered. The key is to take that first step, embrace imperfections, and learn ALONG the way. As someone who has faced these challenges, I can attest that the journey is worth it.

Stop scrolling if you care about the women in your life!

🔍 What you need to know:

1️⃣ Common: Up to 80% of women develop fibroids by age 50.

2️⃣ Symptoms: Heavy periods, pelvic pain, frequent urination, & pain during s*x.

3️⃣ Disparity: African American women are more likely to experience severe symptoms & need surgery.

4️⃣ Hormones: Fibroids shrink after menopause as hormone levels drop.
