On Saturday, The Walnut Foundation and a group of supporters gathered at Paul Pallleschi Recreation Centre (Loafer's Lake) to rededicate a bench in honour of Dr. Winson Isaac, a visionary leader whose personal journey with prostate cancer led him to create lasting change in our community.

In 2007, Dr. Isaac, alongside co-founder Simon Samuel and four other dedicated men, founded The Walnut Foundation as a men’s health interest and support group. His mission was simple but urgent: empower Black men and the wider community to take charge of their health through awareness, education, and open conversation.

Nearly two decades later, his legacy continues in every conversation sparked, every life saved, and every man who decides to get checked.

We walked for our brothers, fathers, uncles, and friends.

But also for the community we want to build. One where Black men live longer, healthier lives.

Black men are 76% more likely to develop prostate cancer. That’s not just a stat — that’s our families, our neighbours, our leaders.

The Walk the Path Walkathon may be over, but the real work continues. This Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, we’re still walking the path, by raising awareness, offering free screenings, and fighting for equity in men’s health.

Let’s keep showing up.

Free PSA Testing Pop-Up!

One of the ways we’re putting your donations to work? Bringing vital health services directly into the community.

Thanks to the support from our Walk the Path fundraising campaign, we’re hosting a free PSA testing pop-up on August 24, helping more Black men access early screening and take charge of their health.

Every dollar raised helps us break down barriers to early detection, provide education, and save lives.

🧪 Know your number. Take control. Tell a friend.

🕙 11 am - 3 pm

In Loving Memory: Marie Samuels Isaac

Marie was the heart of The Walnut Foundation, our Queen Mother, our friend, and our calm in the storm.

She welcomed all the brothers like her own, bringing warmth, laughter, and love into every space she entered, from board meetings to walkathons, symposia, and galas. She kept us fed, grounded, and smiling, even in the hardest conversations.

Marie stood proudly alongside her late husband, Winston Isaac, our Co-founder. We are comforted knowing they are now reunited. We extend our deepest condolences to the children and family who loved them deeply.

With love and gratitude,
Team Walnut
