Hello

On behalf of the entire Anayat Ali Sons Opticians, I would like to say thank you to everyone for joining. Please feel free to invite all your friends and family. How do I know if I need glasses or contacts? There are many indications that you may need vision correction. Anyone can develop vision problems at any age. If you find yourself getting headaches or eyestrain while on the computer or reading and making unusual typo errors these may be signs. If you find yourself squinting at billboards and signs or feel insecure while driving at night it may be time to visit the optometrist. The only way to be sure that you need glasses or contact lenses is to have an eye exam. It is recommended that you get an eye exam every year to ensure good eye health and accurate vision correction.

****How do I read my prescription?*****

A prescription will look like this:

Sphere/ Cylinder/ Axis
OD -3.00/-0.25/010
OS -2.00/ sph
ADD +2.50

PD (Pupillary Distance) 54 (reading)/ 57 (distance)

Some people will not have a cylinder or axis and will have “SPH” written under that column. If you see a triangle on your prescription with a fraction next to it, this is a prism. Currently we are unable to make prism prescriptions. What does plano mean? Plano refers to no prescription or 0.00. What is the PD and how do I measure it? The PD is the pupillary distance which measures the distance from the center of the right pupil to the center of the left pupil in millimeters. This measurement describes where the prescription should be focused in the lens. When measuring the distance PD the patient should look straight ahead so the optical center is right in front of their pupils. We recommend measuring it multiple times to ensure accuracy. If a reading PD is required you can take 2mm off of the distance PD. I haven’t had an eye exam done in a few years but I have my contact lens box, can I use that prescription to order glasses? It is recommended that you have an eye exam done every year to ensure good eye health and an accurate prescription. A contact lens prescription is different from an eyeglass prescription, and you will either need to contact your eye care provider or get a new eye exam. How do I know if I need single vision, progressives or bifocal glasses? What’s the difference? A single vision lens means that you only have one focal power correcting the entire lens; this may also include astigmatism. If your prescription has an ADD power then you qualify for reading, progressive or bifocal glasses. The bifocal lens offers distance and reading vision correction and its physical appearance will have a square on the bottom of the lens where the reading power is located. A progressive lens will offer distance, intermediate and reading vision correction. The physical appearance of the lens is like that of a single vision lens, it is also known as a no line bifocal. The progressive lens has a narrow vertical corridor and does take some getting used to for first time wearers. Does everyone need readers? Once over the age of 40 most people will experience trouble reading, this is also known as Presbyopia and will lead to readers, progressives or bifocal glasses. How do I know the glasses will fit? Start by checking the size of your current frames. The size is located on the inside of the temple (arm) or it will be engraved within the bridge (nose piece). There should be three numbers that describe the size of the frame. Here’s an example of how it will look: 52-18-135. Using this example, we’ll explain what the sizing means. The 52 refers to the lens diameter in millimeters. This is also known as the individual width of a single lens. While all three numbers are significant it is important to follow the lens diameter closely. Depending on the frame material and style there is about 2-3mm of room to go smaller or bigger in the lens diameter. The 18 refers to the bridge width (nose piece). The bridge measurement on a frame with nose pads can be more flexible since the nose pads are adjustable. Plastic frames rarely have nose pads, so the bridge width should be quite exact since they’re not adjustable. If you order plastic frames with a different bridge measurement the frames may be too tight or slide off your bridge (nose). Lastly is the temple (arm) length at 135mm. The temple length is normally quite flexible within 5 mm of your current size. If a temple is too long or feels too tight there are options to bend the temples for extra comfort. Every person is different and if you have particular problems with a certain type of fitting it is best to be more exact on those measurements to ensure the glasses will fit. How do I know which index to order? We currently offer many lens index options depending on your vision correction requirements (single vision, progressive, bifocal and reading). Once you select a frame and vision correction you will enter your prescription into the order page and a list of lens options will appear. Our website will recommend an appropriate lens according to your prescription. All of the lens options will show the prescription range they cover. Here’s an example:

High Quality Standard Lens (1.5 Index)

Recommended for Prescriptions from -2.00 to +2.00

If you are ordering a semi-rimless or rimless frame and have a higher prescription we recommend upgrading the lens to reduce the lens thickness. What are the benefits of anti-glare, anti-scratch and UV protection?

-The anti-glarecoating improves both the vision through the lenses and the appearance of the glasses. This coating also prevents halos when driving as well as eases eye strain from computer screens. In appearance the coating reduces the reflection on the outside of the lens so people see your eyes instead of the glare.
-Anti-scratch coating does not make the lenses scratch proof; rather it hardens the surface of the lens to reduce hairline and minor scratches.
-UV protection blocks harmful UV rays from the sun. I received my glasses but the screws feel loose on the frame. Your order will come with a fitting/tightening tool; use the correct end of this tool to tighten the screw that has become loose. If this does not resolve the issue you can contact our customer service department at 1866-414-2326 about getting a replacement if it’s within the one year warranty. I received metal frames and the nose pads seem to be crooked. Are they adjustable? Your order will come with a fitting/tightening tool; use the correct end of this tool to either tighten or loosen the nose pads screws. Position the nose pads to your preference and tighten the screw. I received my new glasses and feel my depth perception is distorted. Often times a new pair of glasses will feel different at first. After a few weeks of consistently wearing your new glasses you should get used to them. This dizziness or depth distortion often occurs if you have a new prescription or chose a different frame shape (common in semi-rimless and rimless). If the dizziness or depth distortion persists after a few weeks consult an optometrist to check the prescription and PD measurements. I received my glasses and they’re too tight. If the frames are tight on your nose, you may be able to fix this if the frames have nose pads. Use the fitting/tightening tool and loosen up the nose pads to suit your comfort. If you have plastic frames without nose pads then you will need to return the frame. When the temples are either too long or too short there is a possibility of having this adjusted at a local retailer. They will use their discretion whether heating the temples and readjusting their position may help the fitting. Please check your options first as altered products aren’t returnable. If you feel pressure on your temples the overall width of the frame is too small you will need to return the glasses and find something with a larger lens diameter and overall width. We also recommend frames with spring hinges for people who find most glasses fit too tight on their temples. What does the warranty cover? Our one year warranty covers any manufacturer lens or frame defects. To inquire about the warranty or set up an exchange please contact our call center at 1866-414-2326 for further assistance. I need to return my glasses. How do I send them back and who’s paying? For any returns Clearly Contacts will cover the cost to send the product back via Canada Post or FedEx. Please remember that glasses returns are only accepted within 30 days of the original purchase date. To receive your prepaid label please contact customer service by phone at 1-866-414-2326 or via email at us inquiries@clearlycontacts.ca

What if I don’t like them? If you receive your glasses and decide they’re not right for you, you can return them hassle-free. If the glasses are from a promotion there is one exchange permitted, however on regular orders there is no limit. To return any merchandise please contact the call center at 1866-414-2326 or email us at clearlycontacts.ca to receive your pre-paid return shipping label. Are the frames authentic? We carry a wide variety of frames and brands. Our house brands Kam Dhillon, Ltede, Joseph Marc, Love, and Michelle Lane are an expression of our customers’ requests. We also carry authentic designer frames; many frames include the authentication papers, manufacturer details and a matching glasses case. What are the lenses made of? We currently offer plastic and polycarbonate lenses. Our plastic lenses are available in different indexes to offer thinner lens options up to a 1.74 index. The polycarbonate only comes in the 1.59 index and is impact resistant. It is also 20% lighter than 1.5 index in plastic. What should I know about protecting my child from the sun? Our eyes are the most vulnerable in the sun during childhood up until we’re 18 years of age. During this time, 80% of all UV exposure occurs through the natural lens. Over exposure can cause problems down the road like cataracts, macular degeneration and cancer. To protect your children and yourself from sun damage remember to wear 100% UV protection sunglasses when outdoors and get the UV protection coating on your glasses. Transitions also known as photochromic lenses are a great option because they automatically become sunglasses when exposed to UV rays and return to their clear state once indoors. What are Transition lenses? How do they work? A Transition lens is also known as a photochromic lens which has the ability to go from clear to tinted. This change in the lens is activated by UV rays and should reach 83% tinting within a few minutes. Once you remove yourself from the UV rays the lenses will become clear in approximately 13 minutes. If the glasses are worn in a vehicle the tint will not be activated due to UV protection in the windshield. How do I activate a transition lens? When you receive your new Transition glasses you will need to expose the lenses to UV rays multiple times to activate the transition process. During the beginning stages of wearing these glasses the transition tint will not reach its complete darkness until they’re fully activated. I have a narrow face and not many frames will fit me, any suggestions? It’s best to find out what size you need, presumably your lens diameter is between 45-49mm. We recommend using the “Find Your Perfect Fit” guide and enter your lens diameter in the search bar and only search under this field. The frames available in that size will appear as well as other frames in similar sizes. If you feel that you have very delicate features and most frames are quite overpowering, we recommend semi-rimless metal frames which have a softer look without covering your facial features. How do I pick a pair of frames for my child? More times than less your child will have a positive prescription meaning the center of the lens will be the thickest area. Although styles for children are expanding, you can try a rounder frame to help disguise the thickness of the lens. You should also consider a polycarbonate lens material as they are high impact resistant and perfect for the playground. We currently offer a variety of plastic and metal frames in different styles, sizes and brands like Barbie, Hannah Montana and Disney.
