One year ago, during a winter snowstorm, construction officially began on Niwaas Long-Term Care.

Over the past year, we’ve witnessed steady progress as vision has turned into structure and plans have taken shape on site. This milestone reflects the dedication of the many partners, trades, and supporters working together to bring Niwaas to life.

Recently, members of the Niwaas Board had the opportunity to walk the site and see firsthand how far the project has come in just twelve months.

We’re grateful for the continued support of our community as construction moves forward — one step closer to opening our doors.

This week calls Sikhs across the world into deep reflection and remembrance.

We honour the Chaar Sahibzaade—Baba Ajit Singh Ji, Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji, and Baba Fateh Singh Ji—whose lives stand as eternal examples of courage, faith, and unwavering commitment to righteousness. Whether on the battlefield of Chamkaur Sahib in 1704 or in the face of unimaginable cruelty in Sirhind, the Sahibzaade chose the Guru’s path over fear, sacrifice over submission, and faith over life itself.

We also remember Mata Gujri Ji, whose steadfast spirit, strength, and guidance nurtured this unbreakable resolve, even during the harsh confinement of the Thanda Burj.

Their Shaheedi is not only a moment in history, but a living legacy—one that continues to guide and inspire the Sikh Panth across generations.

Today we commemorate the 350th Shaheedi Divas of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji (1621–1675) — a timeless reminder of courage, compassion, and the universal right to freedom of belief.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji stood against religious oppression during a period of great injustice, defending the right of others to practise their faith freely. His sacrifice in 1675 is one of the earliest recorded defences of human rights, freedom of conscience, and dignity for all people, regardless of background or belief.

At Niwaas, we are guided by values rooted in seva, compassion, and creating spaces where every individual feels safe, respected, and supported.
On this important day, we reflect on Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s legacy — a call to uphold justice, protect the vulnerable, and stand for the rights of others with humility and courage.

May his teachings continue to inspire us toward a more compassionate and inclusive society.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji — protector of human dignity and freedom.

Today, we celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas — a day that reminds us of the power of freedom, justice, and compassion.

In 1619, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji secured the release of 52 imprisoned kings, leading them to freedom with courage and grace. His selfless act continues to inspire us to stand for others and lead with kindness.

May the light of Bandi Chhor Divas fill our hearts and homes with peace, love, and unity. 🕯️✨

Niwaas Long Term Care wishes everyone a joyous and blessed Bandi Chhor Divas.
