The WFC is pleased to announce that Dr Danielle Wiesner has been appointed to the World Health Organization (WHO) World Rehabilitation Alliance (WRA) Advocacy and Communications Taskforce.
The World Rehabilitation Alliance is a WHO-led global network whose mission is to support the implementation of the Rehabilitation 2030 Initiative through advocacy activities. The Advocacy and Communications Taskforce supports global awareness, policy engagement, and strategic messaging to elevate rehabilitation as an essential health service that is integral to Universal Health Coverage and to the realization of Sustainable Development Goal 3.
Low back pain remains the leading cause of disability worldwide, contributing significantly to reduced quality of life, lost productivity, and increased healthcare burden. As the prevalence of spinal conditions continues to rise globally, rehabilitation plays a critical role in preventing disability, restoring function, and supporting long-term spinal health across the lifespan.
Dr Wiesner’s appointment reflects her leadership in global health advocacy and her commitment to advancing evidence-informed rehabilitation and spinal health initiatives. In her role on the taskforce, she will contribute to shaping advocacy priorities and communication strategies that emphasize the importance of rehabilitation in addressing conditions such as low back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders.
The WFC congratulates Dr Wiesner on this appointment and looks forward to her continued contributions to global rehabilitation and spinal health initiatives in collaboration with the World Health Organization.
