Did You Know… in 1950, Mother Teresa opened a free homeopathic dispensary in Calcutta? She even prescribed homeopathic medicines herself at times.
Caring for the poor was nothing new to Mother Teresa. She had worked for the poorest of the poor for over half a century. She loved them all, and her Missionaries of Charity provided medical care to millions of them. The practitioners who worked in her Missions also prescribed homeopathic medicines along with conventional drugs. Mother Teresa had a special interest in homeopathic medicine because of its effectiveness and low cost.
Her legacy continues to flourish after her death in 1997. Currently, four charitable homeopathic dispensaries are run under the guidance of the Mother’s Missionaries of Charity. One of these dispensaries primarily provides homeopathic medicines to poor and sick children in Calcutta, while the other three continue to provide homeopathic remedies to anyone who needs them.
