Midwives of Brampton & Halton Hills

Midwives of Brampton & Halton Hills Providing prenatal & childbirth services for families in Brampton and Halton Hills No referral is needed.

Midwifery Care of Peel and Halton Hills grew from a group of four midwives who have served the community to the West and North of Toronto for the past more than twenty years to a group of twenty four midwives now serving Mississauga, Brampton and Halton Hills. Due to the sheer size of the practice we have since divided into two practices and the Midwives of Brampton & Halton Hills continue to serve families in Brampton and Halton Hills. Midwives provide primary care for their clients throughout normal pregnancy, labour and birth, and for both mom and baby 6 weeks following the birth. Midwives qualify for registration either by graduating from the Ontario Midwifery Education Programme (a four-year university degree program) or the International Midwifery Pre-registration Program. Midwives, obstetricians and family physicians are all considered primary caregivers. Women in Ontario have the option to have 1 of these 3 types if primary care providers. Midwifery care is completely funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care for residents of Ontario, with or without OHIP. Midwives of Brampton and Halton Hills currently hold hospital privileges at Brampton Civic Hospital and Georgetown Hospital. Our clients can choose to birth their baby in the comfort of their own home or in either of these hospitals. For more information please refer to our website

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Today, we pause to honour Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never returned home.

As midwives, we are committed to listening, learning, and standing alongside Indigenous families and communities. Birth is sacred, and we acknowledge the deep harm caused when Indigenous birthing knowledge, practices, and autonomy were disrupted by colonization.

We recognize that reconciliation is not a single day but an ongoing responsibility. Our clinic is committed to providing culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive care, guided by humility, compassion, and accountability.

Today on Emancipation Day, we honour the strength, resilience, and legacy of Black communities in Canada.

Emancipation Day marks the anniversary of August 1, 1834, when slavery was abolished in most of the British Empire, including Canada. It is a day to reflect on the history of slavery, the ongoing impacts of anti-Black racism, and the continued fight for justice and equity.

As midwives, we are committed to birth justice, culturally safe care, and advocating for health equity every day. Let us reflect, remember, and continue to work toward a more just future. 🖤

Honouring National Indigenous History Month & National Indigenous Peoples Day

This June, and especially on June 21st, we at MOBHH honour the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

As a clinic grounded in reproductive care, we recognize and celebrate the deep traditions of Indigenous midwifery, knowledge-sharing, and community-centered birth practices that have supported generations.

We are committed to learning from Indigenous midwives, advocating for culturally safe care, and working toward reconciliation within our healthcare systems.

To all the Indigenous clients, families, midwives, and knowledge keepers we’ve had the honour of walking alongside - thank you.

We encourage our community to take this month to learn, reflect, and support Indigenous-led initiatives.

Today, we honor Juneteenth - a celebration of freedom, resilience, and Black excellence. Juneteenth serves as a reminder of the shared history of Black Americans and Black Canadians in the fight for freedom and equality. We look to our American neighbours and acknowledge their continual struggle for reproductive health and Black Maternal Health. At MOBHH, we recognize the profound strength of Black birthing people and remain committed to equitable, respectful care for every family we serve. Freedom includes the right to safe, supported birth. We stand in that truth, today and every day.

Happy Father’s Day!

Today we’re celebrating all the dads, father-figures, and parenting partners who’ve been there through it all: the birth plans, the snack runs, the 3 a.m. diaper debates, and the unforgettable "don’t look during the epidural" moment. Whether you're a biological dad, chosen dad, stepdad, or any kind of parenting partner, you make a difference every single day!

Thank you for holding hands, holding space, and (mostly) not fainting in the delivery room. Your love, support, and steady presence mean the world, especially when we needed a hand to squeeze and a footrest during contractions.

From all of us at MOBHH, Happy Father’s Day!

Our Story

It all began with our first practice called Midwifery Care of Peel and Halton Hills. There were only four midwives who served the community to the West and North of Toronto for more than twenty years. As time went on, that practice has expanded to a group of twenty four midwives serving the Regions of Peel and Halton. As of June 1st, 2018, this large practice has divided into two practices: Midwives of Mississauga & Midwives of Brampton & Halton Hills. We would like to thank all women past, present and future who advocate for midwifery care - “Delivering what matters!”

No referral is needed. To request a midwife you can do so by following this link: http://www.mobhh.ca/request-a-midwife/intake-form/ Midwives of Brampton & Halton Hills have hospital privileges at Brampton Civic Hospital and Georgetown Hospital. Clients can choose to deliver at home or in either of those hospitals. For more information please refer to our website www.mobhh.ca
