Flatland Drugs

Flatland Drugs A friendly reminder that Flatland Drugs will be closed on Long Weekends In addition, we are also open to the public.

We wanted to take this opportunity to extend a very warm welcome from Brandon's newest pharmacy and tuck shop. Flatland Drugs opened its doors on May 4, 2015, and we are so excited to be a apart of Rotary Villas at Crocus Gardens (in the old police station). Flatland Drugs was born from the vision of providing community-based pharmacy for the community. We, at Flatland Drugs, are friendly and appr

oachable. We are a customized pharmacy designed to meet the medical needs of our clients while putting that personal touch into every one of your visits. We look forward to seeing you, so pop in and say "hi"! Probably the most common question that I get is, " Where did the name come from?". I have always loved my home province of Manitoba and I have always made that fact known. While I lived in the bustling city of Vancouver, I became known as the Flatlander. It was obvious to me that I would have to use this nickname with pride in some venture in the future! Flatlander was too long so Flatland Drugs is what it became. I am proud to be a Manitoban and part of this beautiful community.

School’s over, and with it, so is your routine—at least for a couple of months. Whether you’re going on vacation or spending activity-filled days with your family at home, make sure you include a reminder in your schedule to take your medication.

Remember, not being consistent as prescribed or missing doses may affect long-term health.

If you find it challenging to take medication that once easily fit into your schedule, stop by the pharmacy. We have medication reminder packaging and tools, as well as other tips that can help ensure you take you medication on time.

Pink eye is one of the most common disorders of the eye. It is also known as conjunctivitis. It can be caused by an allergy, bacteria, a virus or a physical irritant.

Our pharmacist can recommend the best over-the-counter treatment for you—or we’ll tell you if you need to see your doctor. We’ll even show you the best way to use eye drops.

If pink eye is causing you pain or affecting your vision, see a doctor immediately.

Being outdoors in the summer increases your risk of being exposed to plants that can cause allergic reactions, such as poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac.

If you suspect you’ve been in contact with one of these, immediately wash the affected area with degreasing soap and lots of cool water. Scrub under nails with a scrub brush and soapy cool water.

If you have difficulty breathing or severe swelling, call 911 or go to a hospital.

For a milder reaction, visit our pharmacy—we carry products that can help relieve itchiness, and reduce irritation and other symptoms.

For information on how you can identify these plants, see this handy guide made by the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety: https://www.ccohs.ca/oshanswers/safety_haz/landscaping/poisonous_plants.html

It’s getting warmer! Are your feet ready for flip-flops and sandals?

Being the most used—and sometimes least cared for—part of your body, your feet are more susceptible to injuries and conditions such as bunions, ingrown toenails, plantar warts, plantar fasciitis, blisters, corns, fungus and more.

If you have concerns about your foot health, drop by the pharmacy. We can provide you with over-the-counter medications to remedy many foot conditions, provide tips for proper foot care, and advise you if you need to seek additional medical care.

Pollinators like bees are vital to growing the foods we need, and most will ignore us if we leave them alone.

But do you know what to do when you or someone with you has been stung by a bee or wasp?

For most people, a sting is just painful. Dropping into the pharmacy for pain medications or an antihistamine can do the trick!

But for a few, it can be life-threatening. You may not know you're one of them until after you've been stung. A severe allergic reaction to bee stings (anaphylaxis) requires emergency treatment.

Talk with us to know the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, and what you can do to protect you and your family. Learn more: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/bee-stings/symptoms-causes/syc-20353869

About 70% of men’s health problems are preventable just by changing lifestyle habits.

Canadian men are more likely to die of conditions such as cancer, heart disease or diabetes at younger ages than women; this is amplified by a generalized reluctance to use healthcare services.

The Canadian Men’s Health Foundation has developed resources, information and tools to motivate you and your family to live healthier. Explore them here: https://menshealthfoundation.ca/
