William "Bill" McGuire

William “Bill” McGuire

Bill was born on June 24th, 1948, in Winnipeg, MB and passed away April 25th, 2026 in Brandon, MB.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Diane McGuire, mother, Catherine Westland and father Ronald McGuire. He will be forever missed by daughters Tammy (Todd) Maunder and Maureen (Warren) McDuffe, along with his five cherished grandchildren: Brynn, Kiera, and Finn Maunder, Brady and Cole McDuffe. Bill leaves behind his brother Bart (Sheri) McGuire, sister Maureen (Richard) Harrison and brother-in-law Brian (Lucy) Fowler.

Bill and Diane met in Winnipeg and were married in 1971. In 1972, they moved to Brandon just after welcoming their first daughter Tammy. Their second daughter Maureen was born in 1975. Bill built a 35-year career with his last position in I.T. with the federal government. He was known for his dedication, steady presence, and the pride he took in his work.

Bill’s lifelong passion was trains. An avid model railroader, he found immense joy in building intricate layouts, collecting brass engines, and spending countless hours chasing trains across the prairies. His workshop and layout were places of creativity, patience and pure happiness sharing it with family and friends. Through the Brandon Hills Model Railroad Club, he formed many lasting friendships with people who shared his enthusiasm.

One of Bill’s proudest moments in the last few years was taking Tammy and Maureen on a Via Rail trip from Brandon to Vancouver- a journey filled with laughter, stories and the kind of moments that will be remembered forever.

Bill also gave generously of his time, volunteering for many years at the Brandon Museum. He was active in the Pulmonary Hypertension community, supporting Diane with unwavering devotion throughout her illness.

Bill will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his witty humour, and the deep love he held for his family. The time he spent one on one with all his grandkids from weekly suppers, facetime’s, phone calls and going to hockey, and football games will always be special. His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the friendships he nurtured, and the passion he shared so freely.

A private family gathering will take place.

Donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada at phacanada.ca or PHA Canada, 408- 55 Water Street - Office 8928, Vancouver, BC, V6B 1A1.

“Our life is a constant journey, from birth to death. The landscape changes, the people change, our needs change, but the train keeps on moving. Life is a train, not the station.” Paulo Coelho

Walter "Bud" Haberman

Walter “Bud” Haberman

January 15, 1945 – April 30, 2026

Peacefully and surrounded by love, Bud Haberman went to be with his eternal Savior in heaven.

Bud will be forever cherished by his loving wife of 57 years, Ruth, children: Jeff (Chandra) and their sons Reid, Henry, and Silas, Craig (Kristine) and their children Nicholas, Jack and Maggie, and Jennifer Tame (Ben) and their children Knox, Elle and Drew. He was predeceased by his grandson Gabriel and his brother Fred. Bud will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, caring and fun grandpa, wonderful brother and friend.

Dad was born to Karl and Eugena Haberman of Selkirk and grew up and worked on the family farm. Dad was baptized and confirmed and trusted Jesus as his Saviour. Bud worked at Manitoba Rolling Mills after high school and married his sweetheart Ruth Beck in 1968. Together, they built a home filled with love, stability and hospitality. Dad spent a 35-year career with Manitoba Hydro, first in Selkirk, then in Brandon at the Generating Station. The family settled in Brandon where Dad built a home for them. He obtained his first-class power engineering certificate while working full-time.

Bud was a practical and unassuming man to whom honesty and integrity were of utmost importance. Church life was very important to Dad. He served faithfully and humbly on committees and always ensured the maintenance and function of the property. Dad also volunteered as a driver for Cancer Care. He was the most devoted servant to his family, friends and church.

Dad loved his yard and their three acres just outside of town. It was a home to a massive well-maintained yard and garden that was a wonderful playground for the kids, and later his greatest joy, the grandchildren. He was “Grandpa Extraordinaire.” He spent hours with the kids – having fires, walks in the woods, quad and tractor rides, swinging in the hammock, shooting, playing catch and golfing. He loved to teach them about all things mechanical. Dad was a big Montreal Canadiens fan and seeing him watch a game was pure entertainment. In his retirement, Dad took up golfing and bowling which he enjoyed almost to the end. He was the greatest problem solver and loved coming up with clever DIY solutions. He was a very practical man who was content to live life simply yet meaningfully, having rich relationships with so many who knew and loved him.

In January 2025, Dad was diagnosed with cancer. Mom lovingly and tenderly cared for him until his final breath. Their love for each other was solid and rooted in God’s goodness and faithfulness. We are grateful for Dad’s example of humility, generosity, servanthood and hard work. He will be dearly missed.

As a family, we are grateful for all the support and care we have received from our extended and church families, friends, neighbors and health care providers.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow and a committal service at 2:00 p.m. at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. If desired donations can be made in Dad’s memory to Cancer Care, Pregnancy Support Centre, or a charity of choice.

Roberta Carma Larochelle

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Roberta Carma “Robbie” Larochelle (née Wakefield), who passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born on October 5, 1935, in Nestow, Alberta, Robbie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family. She leaves behind her loving children Marc, Larry, Michelle, and Jeannette, as well as her cherished grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

Robbie shared 70 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Gaston “Larry” Larochelle. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, road trips, camping adventures, and their cherished “Caesar nights at the Larochelles.”

Robbie will be remembered for her love of gardening, country music, and spending time with friends at the A.N.A.F., where she loved gathering for drinks, good company, and trying her luck at the meat draws.

Known for the little stuffed animals she kept on her car dashboard, Larry would always joke that she was driving around with her own little zoo, one of the many ways their love was filled with laughter and teasing.

It brings us comfort to imagine Robbie reunited with Larry, who was no doubt waiting for her with open arms, a Caesar ready, and teasing her about what took her so long to join him.

Robbie will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
