Let’s get to know our Physiotherapist, Tamara!
How long have you been a Physiotherapist?
I have been a physiotherapist for 3 years. I did my undergrad in Kinesiology at University of Regina and my Masters of Physical Therapy at University of Manitoba. I moved to Brandon to be closer to family and friends.
What area of Physiotherapy practice do you enjoy most?
I have a passion for exercise-based treatments. I love treating patients that have the same love for movement.
You have a long history with the sport of hockey, tell us a little about it and how you have remained involved despite having moved on from very high level sport.
I grew up in MacGregor playing boys hockey for the MacGregor Mustangs and girls hockey for the Portage Terriers. I then transitioned into playing for Central Plain Capitals for U18 and then eventually played for University of Regina.
I am now an assistant coach for the U15 Westman Wildcats. I enjoy helping shape the up and coming female athletes in the Westman region and sharing my love of the sport with others.
How does being an athlete influence your physiotherapy career?
It always helps me to have an understanding of what it is like going through in-season injuries and the importance of having a routine - a warm up, strengthening exercises, and cool down.
What's your favourite moment / memory so far at dynamic?
The work Christmas party and watching everyone join in for the minute-to-win-it games
What is the most common advise you give to your clients?
Continue to move. You may need to modify the range of motion you work in, the reps you do, or the weight you are moving but I want you to continue to move.
Fun fact about you?
In my spare time, I enjoy helping my boyfriend with his cattle. I am the executive calf namer on the farm!
Tamara is a girl whose bubbly laugh and enthusiasm for her career helps to make every day a little better for those around her. We are very grateful to have Tamara on our team at Dynamic!
