AYURVEDIC INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

If you’ve never experienced this, or aren’t quite sure what it involves, it’s truly worth exploring. It is so much more than a head massage and it benefits your entire body. This seated session is very different than a typical massage, and is amazing for shoulder tension, neck tension, and headaches.

Originating in India over 1,000 years ago, Indian Head Massage is traditionally used to promote balance, circulation, clarity of mind, and overall wellbeing. It is designed to calm the nervous system, relieve tension, improve lymphatic flow, and support the body’s natural healing processes.

From the moment you arrive, your senses are nurtured with essential oils, soft lighting, warmth, relaxing music, and the gentle glow of candlelight. A custom blend of oils made in house is used on the hair to promote scalp and hair health, and gives your hair amazing nourishment. It includes ingredients like sweet almond oil, blackseed oil, pomegranate oil, rosemary oil, cedar oil, stinging nettle, and more.

Your upper back, neck, and shoulders are worked according to your comfort level. Deep pressure points and massage techniques release tension and melt away tightness.

The head follows, using traditional Ayurvedic techniques. This receives the most time. Alternating vigorous and gentle movements stimulate marma points (energy points) and meridians, encouraging energy flow throughout the body. Gentle hair pulling, friction movements, “shampoo” style fingertip massage, and rhythmic tapping are all part of the experience …and yes, it feels incredible.

We then move to the face as you lean into support and release the effort of holding your head. Key facial pressure points are activated, followed by a slow, soothing facial massage to encourage circulation and relaxation.

Lastly, we finish with the ears. Like the hands and feet, the ears contain reflex points connected to the entire body. A gentle bilateral ear massage often surprises clients with how deeply relaxing it feels.

Each session closes with an energy clearing, acknowledging that our health extends beyond the physical body. You leave feeling open, grounded, refreshed, and deeply relaxed.

Don’t hesitate to add this powerful ancient practice to your self-care routin

The Reflexology Low Down

What is the difference between a foot massage and reflexology? I’m often asked this. A foot massage consists of relaxation moves and tissue work focusing on the actual anatomy of the foot. Reflexology touches on reflex points in the foot that correspond to ALL areas of the body.

What exactly are reflexes? The soles of our feet are connected to our body and each of its parts by specific point, nerves and energy lines. They become a reflection of the condition of health in our body. It always amazes me how accurately the feet tell your health story. By stimulating the points on our feet we can activate or support the corresponding areas of the body, encouraging healing responses.

In my style of reflecology I do a combination of the massage moves to satisfy structures of the foot, and acupressure like pressing to engage your reflexes. Moderate pressure is applied and adjusted to each persons comfort level. The goal is to achieve a level of comfortable pressure, but not to trigger a pain response. Pleasure moves mingle with pressure moves, to create an experience that is both therapeutic AND wonderfully relaxing.

There are also very different styles of reflexology, and I have taken training or workshops in many including Ingham, European, Structural, and Asian styles of reflexology. My sessions are a unique fusion of these styles, and can be adjusted to your specific needs.

Benefits include:

*deep relaxation and stress relief
*increases circulation
*improves nerve function
*improves digestion
*stimulates lymphatic drainage
*offers pain relief
*aides waste elimination
*helps hormone balancing
*boosts immunity
*relieves plantar fasciitis
*reduces edema/ swelling
*improves mood and energy
*simulates healing response and recovery times

At the end of my sessions, feet are wrapped in hot towel compresses, hot stones are used on calves and feet, and a short energy clearing always closes the session.

Did you know?

💜Your feet are a biomechanical marvel. Each foot has 8000 nerve endings, 26 bones, 33 joints and more than 150 muscles, tendons and ligaments, all of which work together to provide support, balance and mobility.

💜When we do high impact activities our feet can feel the pressure of up to 8 times our body weight.

💜Reflexology can support our foot anatomy and foot health, and improve issues like plantar fasciitis and foot swelling.

💜 Reflexology also assists in immune, circulation, hormone, lymphatic and nervous system support. There are reflexes in the foot for your entire body.

💜Reflexology helps you relax and reduces anxiety, which allows your body to heal.

💜Your feet want you to book an appointment.😬
