Restorative yoga allows your body and mind to completely relax as you focus on releasing and letting go. The practice places your body in a relaxed state that allows your nervous system to shift out of the sympathetic state, the fight or flight mode. When you access the parasympathetic nervous system, it aids healing and relaxation in the body. This is why I like to refer to Restorative Yoga as Yoga for your nervous system.
