BCHS was honoured to host Chef Rick Powless from the Six Nations on the Grand River as part of a new collaboration with Compass One Group to develop patient meals inspired by our local Indigenous communities.

Indigenous patient meals are currently under development, with the launch of a limited menu targeted for June 2026, and a full menu rollout expected for Fall 2026.

This work reflects our commitment to meaningful engagement, and we remain open to receiving ongoing input from the Six Nations’ culinary community on bettering the Indigenous/First Nation patient experience.

Brantford General Hospital’s (BGH) Emergency Department (ED) is experiencing significantly higher patient volumes and wait times.

We ask that you please consider all alternative care options (family doctor, access care clinic, walk-in clinic, pharmacy, Health811, etc.) before coming to the ED with non-life-threatening issues. But, if you choose to come to the ED, we’re always here to help.

Check out this video to learn how the ED works, why you wait, and the never-ending flow of actions and decisions that are needed to manage the patients coming through for treatment.
