We had a wonderful time at the Newcomer Welcome Day Fair hosted by the Brantford Immigration Partnership!

It was an incredible opportunity to connect with newcomers from all over the world, each bringing their own unique story and culture. We loved seeing participants mark their countries of origin on our map โ€” a beautiful reminder of the rich diversity that makes our community so vibrant.

We also shared newcomer-specific mental health resources, fun colouring sheets, and some swag to take home!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by. Weโ€™re grateful for the warm welcome and the chance to support our growing community. ๐Ÿ’›

Need urgent Care this long-weekend? Want to avoid the emergency room if possible?

Check out this post from Norfolk General Hospital, highlighting ways you can access care while skipping the lines.

In the event of a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.

With the long weekend coming up, Norfolk General Hospital (NGH) encourages you to know your care options ahead of time. For non-urgent health concerns, you can often skip the wait by choosing the care that best fits your needs.

โœ… Need care fast โ€” anytime, anywhere?

UrgentCareOntario.ca connects you to virtual and in-person care 24/7, all across the province. Get help from a trained medical professional without sitting in a waiting room.

Other great options for non-urgent care include:

โžก Your family doctor โ€“ Best for checkups, follow-ups, prescriptions, and referrals.

โžก Health811 โ€“ Free, 24/7 service. Speak with a registered nurse by phone or online to assess your symptoms and get guidance. Visit health811.ontario.ca.

โžก Ontario pharmacists โ€“ Can now assess and prescribe for many common conditions like UTIs, pink eye, skin rashes, cold sores, and more โ€” no appointment needed.

Emergency Departments across the province remain busy, so for non-urgent symptoms consider one of the alternative options.

Remember, in a medical emergency, always call 911 or proceed to the nearest Emergency Department. Priority is given to critical patients, and non-urgent cases may experience longer wait times.

Stay safe and healthy! โ˜€๏ธ

โœจโœจ2025 BBNOHT Annual Report Out Now!โœจโœจ

Not long ago, many people had never heard of an Ontario Health Team. But the Brantford Brant Norfolk Ontario Health Team (BBNOHT) has quietly been building something meaningfulโ€”something thatโ€™s starting to change how people experience care in our communities.

This year, weโ€™re especially proud to share our Annual Report. Itโ€™s not just a summary of projectsโ€”itโ€™s a reflection of progress. Real accomplishments, made with real people in mind:
- Easier access to cancer screening
- Better tools for digital health
- Stronger partnerships across primary care, mental health, and community services - - Support for those whoโ€™ve been historically left behind

Learning more about your local OHT isnโ€™t just about staying informedโ€”itโ€™s about knowing your options and feeling empowered to speak up for what you need.

๐Ÿ“˜ Read the 2025 BBNOHT Annual Report and get to know the team working behind the scenes to make care more connected and more human.

Everyone is at risk from heat, especially older adults, infants and young children, people who work or exercise in the heat and those with certain medical conditions. Symptoms of heat- related illness may include extreme thirst and decreased urination, dizziness or fainting, rapid breathing, nausea or vomiting, and rapid heartbeat. If you experience any of these symptoms during extreme heat, immediately move to a cool place, drink water and seek medical attention. Check on friends, family and neighbours, especially the elderly and those who are chronically ill during heat events and even after the weather cools off as they may still feel negative health impacts of the heat.

Tenants in multi-residential housing units are reminded to access their common rooms as places to cool down when needed.
