Red is the colour of the root chakra, or energy centre, that connects us to the earth and to our physical reality.

A balanced red energy (root chakra) manifests itself as enthusiasm, drive, assertiveness, self confidence and creativity.

An lack of red energy (root chakra) may show up as an inability to sustain energy levels, physical weakness, being emotionally and mentally unable to experience life as it is, lacking in drive and enthusiasm, feelings of vulnerability and alienation, inability to maintain personal boundaries.

An excess of red energy might manifest as hyperactivity, inflammation, physical tension, inability to relax, anger, fear, rapid mood swings, impatience and exhaustion through continually overextending one's abilities and energy reserves.

Red stones like ruby, red jasper, red quartz, hematite and garnet can be worked with to balance the root chakra so that you can feel that zest for life again!

What is a chakra?

It is an energy vortex that is shaped like a funnel. The narrow end of the funnel feeds into the vertical power current that runs through the center of the body.

We have seven major chakras (energy centers) that when functioning well, rotate in a clockwise direction and extend about 6-9 inches out from the physical body.

The chakras metabolize universal energy that nourishes the associated psychological and physical functions.

When the chakras are balanced and aligned, there is ease and health. When energy in the body is blocked or distorted, the corresponding chakra is unable to metabolize the incoming energy and distress results. A malfunctioning chakra will eventually lead to physical pain or disease.
