The Cardiac Fitness Association (CFA) was chartered as a registered charity in 1980 by Dr. Schaman’s patients.

Over three decades providing cardiac rehabilitation and support for Canadians participating in a revolutionary cardiac rehabilitation program. The Association was created in order to ensure the availability of this program to all who required it, regardless of means. Throughout the past years, fundraising efforts of the CFA members have provided state-of-the-art equipment and helped keep this program available to all.

Each member is encouraged to come to weekly supervised and monitored cardiac classes which included professional check-in, ECG monitoring, scheduled state-of-the-art telemetry monitoring, group support and an educational cardiac and/or life style lecture with opportunities for questions.

All members are individually and collectively counseled to exercise within their prescribed heart rate range every day, to follow the heart disease reversal diet, to participate in group support sessions and to use effective stress management techniques. It is a combination of Exercise, Diet, Group Support and Stress Management that we believe will extend the life of someone with heart disease.

The CFA’s annual “Walk of Life” is it’s main fundraiser and is held the end of May in Toronto and beginning of June at the Clinic in Breslau (Ontario Aerobics Centre). We encourage all members to participate along with their families, friends and associates. Heart disease touches us all. However, we are confident that our efforts and success through the CFA Program can be a catalyst for change in the battle against heart disease, as the CFA members take the knowledge that they have gained through the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program to their families, friends and the communities.
