Anxiety, depression, overwhelm, stress….utilize your breath!

Yoga breath, also known as yogic breathing or pranayama, refers to conscious breathing techniques used in yoga practice to balance the body's energy, calm the mind, and prepare for meditation. Key aspects:

*Types of Yoga Breaths:*

1. Diaphragmatic Breathing (Belly Breathing): Engages the diaphragm, expanding the lungs fully.
2. Ujjayi (Ocean Breath): Slow, steady breath with a soft hissing sound.
3. Bhastrika (Bellows Breath): Forceful, rapid breathing to energize.
4. Kapalabhati (Breath of Fire): Fast, shallow breathing for purification.
5. Alternate Nostril Breathing: Balances left and right brain hemispheres.

*Benefits:*

1. Reduces stress and anxiety
2. Improves lung capacity
3. Enhances focus and concentration
4. Supports meditation and relaxation
5. Balances nervous system

*Basic Yoga Breathing Techniques:*

1. Inhale deeply through the nose
2. Hold the breath (optional)

Trigger Points….a little information!

A trigger point is a specific area of tension within a muscle that can cause pain, stiffness, and limited range of motion. It is typically characterized by:

1. Localized pain or tenderness
2. Muscle stiffness or tightness
3. Limited range of motion or flexibility
4. Palpable (able to be felt) nodules or "knots" in the affected muscle

Trigger points can develop due to various factors, including:

1. Muscle overuse or strain
2. Poor posture
3. Injury or trauma
4. Stress and tension
5. Nutritional deficiencies
6. Medical conditions (e.g., fibromyalgia, arthritis)

Trigger points can be classified into two main types:

1. Active trigger points: Cause spontaneous pain and stiffness.
2. Latent trigger points: Only painful when pressed.

Trigger point therapy, massage, and self-care techniques (e.g., foam rolling, stretching) can help alleviate symptoms.

These “spicy” points as we call them, when treated can give incredible release to the body!!
