Please welcome Trevor Cervelli to our team. Trevor joins us an experienced Physiotherapist, please see his bio below to see if he would be a good fit for you.
"In my work as a physiotherapist, I focus on active rehabilitation of persistent pain and illnesses. This involves a collaborative process of understanding and then retraining your body/mind system to be able to do things that are important to you with ease again.
I have extensive training in coaching methods. With coaching, I aim to develop a partnership with you. Traditionally in healthcare, professionals teach and tell you what to do as the expert. With coaching, you have more power and we work as a team. I first seek to understand all the elements involved in your situation and understand what is important to you. Then, I collaborate with you and empower you to make the changes that you are ready for and that makes sense to you to achieve your goals. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to hear about clients’ struggles and guide them as they reflect on their situation and uncover the motivation to take action in meaningful ways to regain their physical abilities and health. I strive to listen well and as needed give people encouragement and advice to help them move forward, always operating from a framework of person-centered care.
I have a long-time interest in embodiment, mindful movement, mindfulness, etc. I often guide clients in practices that highlight the body-mind connection. This could be breathing techniques or somatic therapies. I have seen many times how it is possible for clients to harness the power of their nervous system to calm their body/mind, to transform and alleviate pain and enable progress with recovery and physical health goals. When you pay attention to your body, you start to see how you have the power to change things. There is so much science showing that your mind and body are connected and this is relevant to all diagnoses, where the mind has commonly been severed and forgotten.
I can support your journey with helpful science and guidance to show how change is possible. I have a background in pain neuroscience. I started my career with many years of study of pain research and leading pain science experts. I understand the complexity of pain, our health, our bodies and our lives and I strive to deeply understand each client’s unique story.
I also have training in and offer dry needling, Mulligan concept manual techniques, other manual therapy and other pain relieving modalities as needed to support rehabilitation.
I live in Bridgewater. I have 2 kids and we love running, swimming, biking, hiking, camping, playing ultimate frisbee, playing piano, singing and dancing."
