As many know, my mom, Chrystalee MacLean has a genetic kidney disease that destroys the kidneys and she is nearing end-stage kidney failure and will require a kidney transplant.
She is currently going through all the work ups and tests required for being placed on the transplant list, which we all know is a list that no one ever wants to need to be on. It's a long list, and a long wait.
We already know that she cannot have a fistula for dialysis, so the only other option would be a central line for when she does need to go on dialysis, which will restrict and limit her activities.
Our biggest hope and wish is for the miracle of a living kidney donor, to avoid dialysis all together, and get her on the road to getting better, faster. Her doctors say, a living donor would be her better chance.
This woman has already gone through enough. She has survived a ruptured brain aneurysum, thank god, and has continued to show that she is a fighter, but she so desperately needs a break.
Unfortunately, I am not a candidate for a donor so I have decided to try and help in a different way, to find my mom a living kidney donor.
