Some encouraging news for RMTs 🙏🏻👌🏻

A government response was recently received to the petition presented to parliament in November 2025 that requested HST/GST exemption for massage therapy in Canada.

The federal Minister of Finance, François-Philippe Champagne, indicated that the government understands that massage therapy is regulated in five provinces, and reiterated that HST/GST exemption is not automatic, and requires a formal application to the Minister of Finance.

Champagne confirmed that a formal request for exemption has been received and is currently being reviewed by the Ministry of Finance.

We will be using this encouraging response to support our request for a follow-up meeting with Remi Gagnon, Policy Advisor for the Ministry of Finance. We met with him this summer and spoke about how HST exemption would improve healthcare access and ensure that massage therapy is aligned with other regulated health professions regulated in five provinces.

We look forward to providing further updates as this issue progresses.

Warmer weather, sandals, walking tours, and travel can be tough on your feet—especially if you’re used to boots and socks all year.

Here are our top tips to keep your feet healthy while you’re away 👇

👡 Moisturize daily
Hot climates and sandals can dry out skin quickly. Use a urea-based or medical-grade foot cream daily to prevent cracks and calluses.

✂️ Trim toenails properly
Cut straight across (not rounded) to help prevent ingrown toenails—especially important if you’ll be walking more than usual.

🧼 Watch for infections
Warm, humid environments increase the risk of fungal infections. Keep feet clean, dry, and change socks regularly.

🩴 Choose supportive footwear
Flip-flops are great at the beach—but not for all-day walking. Opt for sandals with arch support and cushioning.

☀️ Don’t forget sunscreen… on your feet!
Feet can burn too—especially the tops when wearing sandals.

🧦 Travel smart
Long flights or drives? Compression socks can help with circulation and swelling.
