EVENFLO RECALL ALERT

CANADA AND US Consumers

Issue: During testing, we found that when the seat is used rear-facing, the seat may shift from one recline position to another.

Risk: Should another passenger put their hand in the recline mechanism when it shifts out of position, their risk of injury is increased.

Action: No injuries have been reported related to this condition, which does not negatively impact protection for a child secured in the car seat. Parents and caregivers may continue to use the car seat, including in rear-facing mode. it is prudent to take care to prevent any passenger from inserting their fingers into the recline mechanism.
Evenflo will provide affected families with an equivalent replacement car seat at no cost.

To help mitigate this risk, you may fold a small towel inside the recline mechanism to fill in the open space.

Please call 1-800-233-5921 (US) or 1-800-265-0749 (Canada), Monday through Friday from 8 AM – 5 PM EST. You can also email parentlink@evenflo.com.

🔧 Forward-Facing Belt Path
This is the designated route for threading the vehicle’s seat belt or lower anchor strap when installing the car seat in a forward-facing position.
- it differs from the rear facing path and is loca t ed near the child's back.

---

📏 Recline Indicator
A built-in visual guide that shows whether the car seat is reclined at the proper angle.
- Designs vary: some use bubbles, lines, or color zones.
- An incorrect recline can affect airway safety.

---

🔄 Rear-Facing Belt Path
This is the route used when installing the car seat in a rear-facing position.
- It differs from the forward-facing path and is located near the child’s feet.

---

⚓ Lower Anchors
Also known as UAS (Universal Anchorage System), sometimes refered to as LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children), which is not technically the correct term for it, or LA.
- These attach to metal bars located in the vehicle seat crease, used to attach the car seat without a seat belt.
- Each car seat and vehicle has a weight limit for using these anchors, check both manuals.
- Not all seating positions have anchors, so placement matters.

To understand how to use a car seat, we need to know what the parts are called!

Key Components of a Child Car Seat
- Adjustment Handle
Moves the headrest and harness height up and down.

- Top Tether
Used for forward-facing (and some rear-facing) seats. Reduces forward movement by 4–6 inches.

- 5-Point Harness
Includes two shoulder straps, two hip straps, and a crotch buckle. Us and Canadian seats also feature a chest clip.

- Adjustment Strap
Pulls the harness tight to secure the child.

- Cupholders
May need to be installed separately. In some models, they’re mandatory and part of the seat’s structural integrity.

A car seat found on the roadside may look like a
bargain, but hidden damage, missing parts, or
expired safety features can make it dangerously
unreliable.
Even if the seat appears clean or
intact, internal stress fractures, weakened
plastics, or compromised harness systems may
not be visible to the eye.
Car seats are engineered to absorb extreme crash forces, and
once that integrity is weakened, they can fail when you need them most.
Without knowing its history, you can't be sure it will
protect your child the way it was designed to.

Your child’s safety starts long before the first buckle clicks. Every car seat is designed differently, and the manual is your roadmap to installing it correctly, adjusting it as your child grows, and using every feature the way it was intended. Taking a few minutes to read your manual can make every ride safer, smoother, and more confident, for both you and your little one.
Manuals can be hard to understand though! We are dealing with oddly specific phrasing and brand-new terms.
Never hesitate to reach out to the manufacturer or a CPST for help!
