Well, that's a "wrap" for me! After 14 years of Home Alone Safety and 19 years of Babysitter Training courses, it is time to pass the torch to other companies that offer this safety training to youth across Ontario. If you search for "Children's Safety Courses near me" you will get a number of organizations that offer both Home Alone Safety and Babysitter Training. Happy 2025 to all my amazing parents of Home Alone Safety and Babysitter Training! It's hard to believe that its been over 10 years since the creation of this page and we have over 2.5K followers. As the sole proprietor and safety instructor, it is time for me to reduce my workload, and I will be ceasing both children's courses this year (most likely by the end of July). I'm hoping that some of my followers may be interested in taking over this part of my business. It's fun, interesting and a great part time job for someone who likes kids. We are coming back to PERTH in 2024! Home Alone Safety for Kids! (boys and girls aged 9-12) has been booked in PERTH for Wed, Jan 3, 2024, 9am-3pm, at St. Pauls United Church hall, 25 Gore St W. Red Cross Babysitter Training (ages 11 and up or in grade 5) will be in the same location on Saturday, January 6th from 9am-4pm. Both courses teach street smarts, stranger danger and tricky people, safe snacking, internet/fire safety and first aid, and babysitter training expands on those important life skills by learning how to keep others safe, including an intro to CPR, first aid for choking and bleeding, as well as how to use an epi-pen and asthma inhaler. Each course costs $65pp which includes a take home workbook. Please text First Aid/CPR instructor Colleen Cameron at 613 498 4415 to save a limited spot. We had a great time in LANSDOWNE on the last PA day, and we are back for the Red Cross Babysitter Training course at TLTI, 1 Jessie St on Friday December 29th from 9am-4pm. Boys and girls 11 and up (or in grade 5) who are comfortable being "home alone" will learn how to care for others, including younger siblings. The afternoon is dedicated to first aid, including an first aid for conscious choking children and infants, and and intro to CPR. How to treat life threatening bleeding, how to use an epi-pen and asthma inhaler are just some of the skills learned and practiced. $65pp includes a take home workbook. Both courses use games and other fun activities to teach street smarts, stranger danger and tricky people, safe snacking, internet/fire safety and first aid. Babysitter Training expands on those important life skills by learning how to keep others safe, including an intro to CPR, first aid for choking and bleeding, as well as how to use an epi-pen and asthma inhaler. (ages 9-12) will be in Kemptville on Saturday, November 18 from 9am-3pm, St. Paul's Church Hall, 319 Prescott St (corner of Mary). Red Cross Babysitter Training (aged 11 and up) will be held in the same location on Saturday, December 30th from 9am-4pm. Both classes will learn about street smarts, stranger danger, safe snacking, fire and internet safety and first aid using games and other fun activities. Babysitter Training expands on those life skills by teaching how to keep others safe, including an intro to infant and child CPR and how to use an epi pen and asthma inhaler/spacer. $65 pp includes a take home workbook.
