Thank you Ontario Provincial Police - East Region for this important reminder to drivers as the new school year approaches.

It's that time of year and we cannot stress the message enough: you MUST stop for a stopped school bus which has its red lights and stop-arm activated. Failing to do so is not only illegal, is can also have DEADLY consequences.

Keep you eyes off you phone and on the road ahead. Watch for buses and be prepared for them to make frequent stops. Yellow flashing lights are a warning that a stop is about to happen. That's your cue to slow down and get ready to stop a safe distance from the bus.

To celebrate , we'd like to emphasize the importance of vaccinating your dog against rabies. Hunters preparing for the hunting season should ensure their dogs are up-to-date on the rabies vaccine. While running in the bush, hunting dogs have the potential of interacting with wildlife that may have rabies. We are hosting low-cost rabies vaccination clinics across LGL on September 17. Find a listing of locations here: https://healthunit.org/clinics-classes/rabies-clinic/

It’s never too early to read! Children get ready to read long before they start school. From birth to 3 years, children are learning about spoken language and vocabulary, the sounds that form words, letters and writing, and how books work. Make book sharing a special part of your everyday routine starting at birth. You don’t have to read the words - talk about the pictures that interest your child, and let them hold the book and turn the pages: https://bit.ly/LGLlanguageexpress
