AS businesses start to open up around Alberta I wold like to make a plea to those of you who will continue to judge shops that keep the mask mandate, or see someone walking around still wearing a mask. It is not you're place to ridicule those who have found safety in these "restrictions' or feel at b/c their not vaccinated it's still their job to keep others safe. Be respectful and understand that YOU are not the only one that makes the world go round, trust me, the world will keep going even when you're gone. Continue to be smart. Look after those around you and check in on those who you love.

Just a shout out/ reminder, massage clinics are still open for business during this shut down. I personally don't see massage clinics, chiropractic clinics, physio clinics, or kinesiology clinics closing down again. Due to the regulations no walk in are allowed, therefore by appointment only. Thank you. Be smart.

Muscle monday
Today's muscle of choice. The levator scapulea. This muscles main function is to lift (elevate) the shoulder blade. Due to the size of this muscle it does not act on its own. With the help of the latissamis dorsi, trapezius, rhomboids, and pectoralis major/ minor. All of these muscles inferiority rotate the shoulder (glenoid cavity), stabilize the spine and extend and laterally flex the neck. This muscle is a deeper muscle as it is stabilized by many muscles, therefore stretching this muscle alone is not possible. Although there are stretches you can do to stretch a variety of these muscles.

Stretches
1. Sitting on a chair, place one hand on the chairs edge, and place the opposite hand to the opposite side. Drop your shoulder and place your head to your chest, ensure that when doing this your head is facing away from the arm on the chair. Hold pose for 20-30seconds

2. Place one hand behind your buttock to lower your shoulder. Turn your head to the opposite side and look down. Gently pull down on your head with the other hand. Hold 15-20 seconds. Repeat on other side.

3. Stand with your arms relaxed on each side of your body. Roll your shoulders backwards, make sure the you don't over do it if you are feeling sore or healing from a shoulder injury.
