“Tina’s care continued after the birth. She continued to check in and provide support during our short NICU stay and when we came home. She shared photos she had stealthily taken during labour and birth that I will forever cherish. I appreciated how Tina kept notes of key highlights of my labour and delivery to help me piece together the experience.

Tina’s care went above and beyond what I could have ever hoped for in a doula. Tina is a true angel in the birthing world and I cannot recommend her highly enough!”

This client’s strength and determination was so inspiring from our 1st meeting! She courageously worked through previous birth/postpartum trauma and then ended up having to navigate preterm labour/birth as baby came 5.5weeks early. She knew what she wanted and persevered through it all!

Thank you for trusting me through such a vulnerable experience. It was an honor to be there for you 🤍

A frequently asked question I receive is: why choose to have a home birth?

That’s an individualized choice for everyone but It really comes down to preference and reasons stated are usually one (or more) listed in the infographic.

If home birth is something that you’re curious about or you have questions, feel free to send me a message and I’m happy to send you more information.

There’s a lot of buzz about how midwifery and home births are coming back and people often associate it as a new trend. The reality is, home birth and midwifery care has been around for far longer than hospital birth. So no, it is not a trend. It’s reclaiming a woman’s rite of passage to birth with a provider they’re comfortable with in an environment they’re comfortable in.

Fun fact: I’ve been researching childbirth history and came across this quote that I found really interesting.

“The rise of obstetrics and its eventual dominance over midwifery in the Western world, was achieved by the argument that those who cared for the female body could only do so by viewing it as a machine to be supervised, controlled and interfered with by technical means” Clare Davison

And that’s a wrap on 2024. What an amazing year it was!!

I spent the first few months launching my social media page and focusing on more education.

Attended a few births and then went on an incredible birth work trip to Tanzania, Africa where I doula’d in a busy clinic for a week.

Returned from my trip, finished a VBAC certification course, and supported two amazing VBACs back to back.

Finished the remainder of the year supporting more families through pregnancy and birth with the last 2024 baby born on Christmas Day.

Here are some quick stats on my year.

Had an even split with:
50% boys
50% girls

Heaviest baby: 10lbs 3oz
Lightest baby: 4lbs 8oz

70% hospital births
30% home births
All were vaginal births with 2 being VBACS (vaginal birth after cesearean)

Midwives worked with:

Communities served:
Barons, Drumheller, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, High River, Brooks, Taber

Thank you so much to each family that trusted and invited me to witness and support them in their journey 🤍I’m excited to see what 2025 will bring!

Hi! I’m Tina. Wife, Mama, and Birth Doula.

I live in rural Alberta, Canada and serve the Brooks, Taber, and surrounding area.

I was born with the support of a traditional midwife and have been fascinated with birth (specifically homebirth) since I learned that and more about the history of traditional birthwork.

I experienced a traumatic birth with our first baby which led me to educating myself more on physiological birth, midwifery care, doula support, etc. After a beautiful birth experience with my second baby (where I had the support of midwives and a birth doula), I decided to immerse myself further into birth work and become a doula.

I love supporting births knowing that a difference can be made in how someone views and remembers their birth experience forever. I believe that every birth matters and that caring, informed support should be available to everyone.

I decided to take the VBAC course after a close friend had two unexpected caesarean births and then went on to have a VBA2C (Vaginal Birth After Two Cesareans). She inspired me with her determination and strength and I seen firsthand how hard she had to advocate for herself to find a provider and support to achieve this. I wanted to educate myself more on VBAC births for personal knowledge and awareness, emotional support and understanding towards friends/family that experienced cesarean births, and to better show up for my doula clients wanting to experience a VBAC.

In addition to my doula training and this VBAC course, I have taken a ‘Spinning Babies Positioning’ Workshop, the ‘Positioning for Success: Unlocking the Potential of the Peanut Ball’ Workshop and am currently in the process of becoming a Childbirth Educator.

My messages are always open and I look forward to hearing from you 🤍

The first 1/4 of the year has been slower paced (business wise) and I’ve enjoyed it before my busy baby season begins. It’s given me the motivation to seek help and brand my business/open my social media accounts, and given me time to spend in continuing education.

So far I’ve read some amazing books on pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, attended an in-person training by on peanut balls and how to utilize them better during labor, and begin some online learning (exciting things are coming from this, stay tuned!)

As a birth doula, I am always learning and growing to better support my clients. A lot of my time goes into education, workshops, social media, etc so I can provide you with the best possible support!

This is my updated availability for the rest of 2024!

I have limited availability left for the summer so if you are still looking for support during those months, contact me and we can chat about what that looks like.

Some months are due date specific with availability but feel free to message me if you’re unsure. If I’m not available, I can always refer you to someone who is.

If you’re still unsure what doula support looks like, would like to talk more about resources available, or just simply want to chat about pregnancy/ birth and what your options are, my messages are always open 🤍
