Today is Tiki’s 17th birthday! 🎂

The eighth wonder of the world, let’s bask in all the glory that is Tiki!

This little guy right here has a really cool story to share. About 3 months ago Tiki lost the use of his back legs, a condition called IVDD. We thought we might be faced with a hard decision given his age, the fact that he is deaf and blind, and now this. But, the little light in Tiki’s one good eye was still sparkling, this was not the end for him.

After getting him on some anti inflammatories, some pain medication and acupuncture (yes, Tikis vet does animal acupuncture) he made a remarkable turn around in about 2 weeks. This little guy right here is still running circles around the lawn after a 💩, and scurries around the house after a nice warm bath, showing off how clean he is. And last but not least, he lifts his leg again when he has to p*e. He hadn’t done this for a few years due to arthritis. Looks like he got so much more than he expected from acupuncture.

Happiest of birthdays Tiki, at this rate you’ve got at least 5 more years to go! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Here I am, just doing what I love. Why would I wake up to do anything less than that? There are two important diagnostic tools that I use when I meet with a patient: tongue diagnosis and pulse diagnosis.


Everyone gets all squeamish when I ask to p*ek at their tongue. It can feel super uncomfortable, and you may be wondering if it is clean, or if it looks normal; whatever normal means. Don't worry, don't be shy, there is no judgment, I've seen all kinds of different tongues, and I'm happy to educate you on what your appearance of yours looks like.


Pulses are another very important diagnostic tool during an intake, it helps to tie the symptoms we chatted about and confirm the pattern or patterns we will be working on. No fancy equipment is required here, everything is diagnosed through touch. I also enjoy communicating my findings with you at this stage of the intake.

- if you have a phobia of needles you can still benefit from Chinese medicine using herbs. I'm no herbalist myself, but I can definitely put you in touch with someone who can prescribe them to you.

Chinese herbs need to be tailored to the patient. Going out to get these on your own without talking to a regulated Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner is not recommended as these herbs could have interactions with some pharmaceuticals.

Here are a few that are beneficial for women's health and hormones:
Dang Gui - Angelica Root
Huang Lian - Goldthread Root
Gan Cao - Licorice Root
