“Do I have to shave my head?” “Can I grow my hair back?”
These are some of the MOST frequently asked questions we get.
The answer to the first question “do I have to shave my head?” … The answer is YES.
It is impossible to apply SMP properly and safely with longer hair (the length in his before picture). No matter how much experience the SMP artist has, it is IMPOSSIBLE to properly work with hair this length. Be very cautious of artists who tell you otherwise. It is extremely unsafe, and produces unfavourable results. You must trim your hair to a 0 to properly apply SMP.
The answer to the second question “can I grow my hair out longer after my sessions” the answer is… IT DEPENDS.
In this example, this client is choosing to wear his hair at level 4 trim. He is able to do this because he has diffused thinning, not balding. He recognizes that he has thinning hair, and that the SMP does not camouflage his thinning 100%. He is aware of the fact that if he chose to wear it shorter (level 0) his SMP would look a lot more full, giving him 100% coverage.
Regardless of what anyone says, it’s his decision to wear his hair at this length.
Not everyone is a good candidate for this type of result. If you are someone with BALDING (as opposed to THINNING), you must be willing to trim hair to a level 0 indefinitely.
