This week on The ND Gap, I sat down with Dr. Rachael Lovink, ND to talk about one of the areas of practice many clinicians quietly struggle with: gut health.

Chronic bloating, IBS, constipation, diarrhea — these are some of the most common symptoms patients bring into our offices. But they’re also some of the hardest to manage when the solution isn’t obvious.

In this conversation, we talk about why gut health can feel so confusing for clinicians, what often gets missed in training, and why so many patients end up cycling through protocols that don’t actually move the needle.

If you’ve ever felt unsure about how to approach chronic gut conditions in practice, this episode is worth a listen.

We see colds and flus every year.

But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t refine our approach every year.

In this conversation, I walk through what I’ve changed in my own thinking around immune support and why simplifying has actually improved outcomes.

There’s a difference between prevention protocols and acute treatment plans.

And confusing the two is where things often get messy.

This week’s episode is about tightening up that thinking and approaching cold and flu care with more precision.

When I talk about treating colds and flus, I think there are a few distinctions that get missed in clinical conversations.

There’s a difference between:

• preventing infection
• shortening symptom duration
• reducing severity
• managing symptoms

Not every intervention does all of those things.

In this episode of The ND Gap, I walk through the evidence behind echinacea and elderberry and why prescribing with specificity matters.

Because saying something is “good for the immune system” isn’t a clinical strategy.

Precision is.

A couple of years ago, I ran into an old supervisor from my intern days, who was quick to remind me that I couldn’t possibly built by myself.

She went on to remind me that I didn’t have domain expertise across all of primary care, couldn’t possibly research everything myself and a bunch of other stuff I tuned out and promptly forgot 😉.

I’m not doing it alone. We’re doing it together ❤️.

Dm me the word demo if you’re ready to see how we can change the way practice feels for you. We’ve done it for thousands of other practitioners. Why not you?

This week on The ND Gap, I’m talking about something every clinician sees daily during this season: colds and flus.

But this episode isn’t about a long supplement list.

It’s about simplifying your thinking around immune support and focusing on what actually makes a difference in acute care.

If you’ve ever felt like immune protocols are getting more complicated than they need to be, this conversation is for you.

Feb was fun! [photo-dump]

Lifting, getting sick while I teach the module on not getting sick, ski adventures in Nova Scotia, conference in San Diego, scholarship announcements, the chance to wear all my pretty clothes, teaching for TCC and the worst sleeps of the year.

Lots of time zones, lots of CrossFit, lots of fun. Skiing is a cold spectator sport 🥶.

New grads don’t need tougher skin.

They need better support.

After speaking with Jeanette and Victoria, one thing is clear: the future of naturopathic medicine depends on whether we choose to mentor forward, or protect hierarchy.

If it was hard for you, that doesn’t mean it has to be hard for them.

I sat down with Jeanette Titus and Victoria Gasparini to talk about what it actually feels like to graduate from naturopathic medical school right now.

Here’s what I took away from our conversation:

• Changing your mind is a clinical skill.
• Confidence doesn’t magically arrive with your license; it has to be built.
• The way we treat new grads will define the future of our profession.

Jeanette and Victoria are stepping into this profession with honesty, thoughtfulness, and courage.

The future of naturopathic medicine isn’t 20 years away.

It just graduated.
