MEDIA RELEASE (St. Catharines): On Tuesday, the Lincoln County Humane Society took Gretel into their care. Unfortunately, while in the care of the owner she received a significant injury to her leg. The owner, who was unable to provide the surgery she desperately needed and relinquished her to the St. Catharines shelter.

Gretel, a 4 month old boxer mix, was assessed by shelter staff and they felt that she was resilient and would recover well from the invasive, expensive surgery. Yesterday, Gretel underwent amputation surgery and is recovering today at the shelter. Providing this surgery to Gretel was an expensive venture for the LCHS and they are appealing to the public for monetary assistance with her bill that is now close to $2,000.

Gretel is doing really well and will be up for adoption early in the new year. The shelter will receive applications for her adoption until January 10, 2019.
