It's coming for me. It's already sent out generals. The 'New Year, New You' army has begun It's assault. And I am still here in my holiday pajamas.

I used to feel overwhelmed by the desire to push. To instantly become a person with a 5 am wake up, a day planner strategy, and a wellness routine to make any influencer proud. January is coming and I need to be prepared. Prepared to be awesome. Prepared to CRUSH goals. Oh,lawd! It was so much.

I used to feel the intensity until I realized that the wellness world has been completely colonized, commodified, and commercialized. I realized how this version of 'wellness' needs us to believe that those who can afford it are better than everyone else. The skinnier, more ripped person that eats only organic, vegetables, or grass-fed beef is better than me. The one who wears only Lulu, and does headstands is closer to God. The one who can bench press a building, understands science more than I do. It was (and still is) all bu****it. Yet, here they come again.

Once I got sick, I realized the extreme cost of 'wellness'. I sat with this for a long time. With a limited income, who could I afford to be well? I judged myself. The more I reflected and learned, the more I realized I could cultivate a routine that honored my body. That honored the time of year. That was rooted in the wisdom of my ancestors. It took some research, but I learned. The wisdom became my weapon. I acknowledge my privilege to have had many resources before I got sick.

So, feel free to join my army of healing warriors. We will move slowly into January with intention. We release the last year with gratitude for the lessons we learned. We will plant seeds of dreams and we will nurture them. We will move our bodies wearing whatever we choose. We will wrap ourselves in blankets and read, because knowledge is power and the library is open!

Come rest, recover, and build your strength. Nourish your creativity. Come resist the 'New Year, New You' army. The old you is perfect, right now as you are. Pajamas on. We ride at dawn.

Or maybe 7:30. After coffee. Or, they can come to us. I don't feel like riding anywhere!
