Warning: this lumbar support pillow is actually making your back pain worse. Here’s why a chiropractor would never recommend it.
I’m Dr. Alison Lejkowski, a chiropractor with 15+ years treating lower back pain. Over the last three weeks I’ve shared the couch-only pick, the overall winner, and the best desk chair option. This is the final one — and it’s the reason I started this series.
The Poksri has a sloped shape that actively encourages your lower back to round outward when you sit on a firm chair. That’s the exact posture we’re trying to get away from. Rounded lower back under load means more disc pressure, less muscular support, and over time — more pain, not less.
At under $30 it looks like a bargain. It isn’t. Saving $15 on a pillow that works against your spine isn’t a saving — it’s a cost.
Here’s the full picture after testing all four:
🏆 Best overall — Everlasting Comfort
💺 Best for desk chairs — Travel Ease
🛋️ Best for the couch — Niceeday
❌ Skip entirely — Poksri
And one thing I want to be clear about before you order any of these: a lumbar support pillow is not a treatment for back pain. If you’re dealing with persistent or chronic lower back pain, a pillow alone won’t fix it. Movement, strengthening, and hands-on care are part of a real recovery plan. A good lumbar support helps you maintain better posture while sitting — think of it as a support tool, not a solution.
If you’re unsure which pillow is right for your situation, or you want help figuring out what’s actually causing your lower back pain — that’s exactly what we do at Propel Active. Full review with specs, pros, cons, and a complete side-by-side comparison of all 4 pillows is on the blog. Link in bio.
