It is wonderful to see the great turnout every Wednesday afternoon for our "Hole in one Golf". Residents gather in the Atrium and are extremely competitive vying for a "Hole in one". It is a great social opportunity ,excellent for concentration and much laughter can be heard throughout our community. It is truly remarkable that our determination and competitive edge remains so strong bringing us terrific fun!!!!

As we approach the end of Summer and "Labour Day" weekend we reflect on all the wonderful events we have enjoyed. We had a terrific afternoon as "Mark Corman" came to entertain celebrating our August Birthday's. Mark always provides such an upbeat show that has residents singing and dancing. It is amazing to watch how much impact music has on all of us and the enthusiasm as residents participate in songs like "Sweet Caroline" a classic for sure that never loses its vibe. We now look a head to fall and all the colorful beauty that will soon surround us ... and all the terrific upcoming events!!!!!!

As Summer begins to draw to a close we reflect on our wonderful seasonal events such as our "Peach Festival". It was a terrific event an opportunity to enjoy the fresh delicious fruits of the summer months. Residents and guests gathered in the activity room to enjoy "Peaches and ice cream" that was a big hit. The afternoon was outstanding as "Johnny T" came to perform a fantastic lively upbeat show that was enjoyed by all. We have truly enjoyed all the beautiful things Summer has to offer, and now we look a head to September and Apple season!!!!!!!

At Atria Carmichael Oaks, Aalyah does more than distribute medication as a Caregiver – she delivers peace of mind and comfort.

Every other Tuesday, the book club at Atria Grass Valley gathers to dive into exciting reads, and their recent selection was no exception! Residents read "Blind Descent" by Nevada Barr, a gripping mystery set in the caves of Carlsbad Caverns.

To enrich the experience, resident Marge shared a stunning slideshow of photos from Carlsbad Caverns National Park, bringing the book vividly to life.

For Richard, architecture was never just a job – it was a lifelong adventure in creativity. For more than five decades, he designed everything from libraries and hospitals to luxury homes and award-winning churches.

“I worked on so many different kinds of projects, with so many wonderful people,” he says. “I was very lucky. The real reward is seeing your buildings finished and people enjoying them.”

Now a resident at Atria Cutter Mill, Richard continues to inspire us with stories from a remarkable career.

A wonderful adventure for our "Great Outdoors Event". A visit from "Hands on Exotics" was a real treat as they arrived with an array of wildlife much to everyone's delight. Residents and guests were all smiles as we got to hold and pet all the critters. It was truly wonderful to see all the smiles and laughter. Following our animal visit we gathered in the Atrium for a "Trail Mix Bar" that was a delicious and healthy assortment of snacks and to wash it all down a creamy ice-cold malt chocolate drink. It was a terrific event enjoyed by all and an opportunity to GO Wild!!!!!!

Friendship, like flowers, starts as a sprout. And, with time and care, it blossoms into something beautiful!

Shirley, one of our wonderful Resident Ambassadors at Atria Park of Vintage Hills and an avid gardener, inspired fellow resident Phyllis to start her own garden this spring by sharing seeds – and now Phyllis’s garden bed is in full bloom!

It’s a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to try something new — or to make a new friend along the way.

Meet Terry, a proud U.S. Army veteran and resident of Atria at Hometown. 🇺🇸

After 20 years of military service – including a combat tour in Vietnam and a career in Army JAG – Terry went on to work in federal investigations, covering high-profile cases for agencies like the SEC and Department of Justice. Through it all, one thing stayed constant: his deep commitment to service and integrity.

“I’ve had a great life,” he says. “Every turn seemed to come with a blessing. And I love it here at Hometown,” he adds. “It’s peaceful. We don’t have any stress, any problems, anything. When we got here, I felt like I was in heaven."

Our weekly program "A Stitch in Time" is a terrific way for Residents to make a difference out in the community. Our group meet in the activity room and sew squares together creating beautiful blankets which get donated to "The Juravinski Hospital". The blankets are given to Cancer patients who are undergoing treatment to help them feel warm and comforted. This is a wonderful program and our volunteers should feel great that they are making such a difference in peoples lives!!!!!

Meet Jay, a resident at Atria Grapevine whose love for quilting is matched only by her love for her husband, Jimmy.

Jay and Jimmy moved in nearly three years ago, after his dementia diagnosis, and they’ve found more than just care – they’ve found community. “We know everybody – all the workers, everybody – and it’s so friendly. That’s a real support system for me and Jimmy.”

When she’s not spending time with Jimmy or her neighbors, Jay stays busy stitching quilts, table runners and binding projects for friends (and even her sister). “It’s very calming to me. I enjoy it. There’s a real sense of accomplishment.”

She even transformed her pantry into a cozy sewing nook – a space dedicated to her personal passion.

The lazy hazy days of Summer are here and one of the most enjoyable things is the abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables of the season. It was a perfect time for our "Blueberry Bonanza" as Residents and guests gathered to enjoy fresh Blueberry Shortcake that was truly delicious. A visit from "Ron Tansley" was a treat as Ron is an outstanding performer and has everyone up dancing and singing. Ron gets many laughs as he wears his different wigs and attire which makes for a high energy and upbeat show. It was a terrific afternoon, and now we look forward to August and the arrival of Peaches, we can hardly wait!!!!!

A fantastic end to the month of July as we celebrated our monthly Birthday's. Residents and guests gathered in the activity room for a terrific afternoon of music and a delectable "Strawberry Shortcake". It was a lovely way to say goodbye to July, and now we look a head to August and all the wonderful things to come at "Burlington Gardens"!!!!!!

Our "Red Carpet Bingo" is a fantastic event and everyone looks forward to the last Friday of the month. Our sponsor for July was Heather our foot care specialist who came bearing gifts with her daughter Paige. Heather and Paige did a marvelous job calling the games and donated some lovely prizes for our winners. It was a packed activity room and at the conclusion a name was pulled for the delightful gift basket. Our big winner was "Marilyn" who was absolutely thrilled with her win!!!!

Wow !!! Our "Christmas in July" was a spectacular and fun filled day. Our community looked amazing a blend of Christmas and Summer decorations. At lunch residents and guests were treated to a Turkey dinner with all the fixings. At the conclusion of lunch we had a visit from pianist "Dave Thierry" who performed a wonderful Christmas show. The highlight of the day had to be when "Santa" arrived taking time away from the beach to bring smiles and laughter to us all...... It was a terrific event and Thanks to everyone who helped make our day so amazing!!!!!!!

A perfect Summer day and so wonderful to see residents spending time with friends enjoying our beautiful grounds and stunning flowers. We are so grateful for all the beauty that surrounds us and what a treat if we get to see some of the majestic wildlife who also call "Burlington Gardens" home!!!!!!
