What happens when technology connects with human health concerns?

On the Throttle Up Leadership Podcast with Dr. John P. Dentico, HerSay’s CEO Rebecca Lyons spoke about the growing role of technology in healthcare and why the human side still matters.

Technology can help us find patterns, organize information, and make healthcare easier to navigate. But it should not replace empathy, lived experience, or the importance of truly listening to patients.

Mental health and hormonal health are not separate conversations — especially for women.

PMDD. Perinatal mood disorders. Perimenopausal depression. These are recognized, hormonally-driven conditions with specific treatment pathways. But they're often missed because the hormonal pattern isn't identified.

If your anxiety spikes before your period, your depression worsens in perimenopause, or your mood crashed after giving birth — that pattern is clinical information. It deserves to be taken seriously.

This carousel is for every woman who was handed a prescription without anyone asking about her cycle. 💛

Persistent exhaustion. Feeling cold when everyone else is warm. Shortness of breath. Brain fog. Brittle nails.

For many women, these symptoms point to iron deficiency — the most common nutritional deficiency among menstruating women. And it's frequently missed because serum iron can look fine even when ferritin (your iron storage protein) is depleted.

If you've been told your bloodwork is normal but something still feels off, this one's worth a read.

Advocating for a ferritin test could change how you feel — and how clearly you think. 💪

Your body treats work deadlines, relationship strain, and physical overtraining the same way — as threats requiring a stress response.

When cortisol stays chronically elevated, it doesn't just affect your mood. It disrupts ovulation, suppresses thyroid function, destabilizes blood sugar, and depletes the building blocks your body needs to make s3x hormones.

This carousel breaks down what chronic stress is actually doing to the female body — and why 'self-care' alone isn't enough when the system driving your hormones is under siege.

Your nervous system health is your hormonal health. 💙

Most women think menopause happens overnight. What they're not told is that the transition — perimenopause — can begin in your late 30s or early 40s, and last a decade.

Heart palpitations. Rage that comes out of nowhere. Insomnia. Heavier or more erratic periods. Joint pain. Brain fog. These are all recognized symptoms of perimenopause — and most women are never told to expect them.

If you've been feeling 'off' and no one has connected the dots, this carousel is your starting point.

You're not going crazy. You're in a hormonal transition — and it has a name. 💛

Blood sugar balance isn't just a concern for people with diabetes. For women, glucose regulation affects energy, mood, cravings, cycle regularity, and hormonal balance — every single day.

And it shifts across the menstrual cycle. What worked for your energy in the follicular phase may not work in the luteal phase. What felt stable before 40 may feel completely different in perimenopause.

This carousel covers the blood sugar-hormone connection and what you can practically do to stabilize yours — starting at your next meal.

Protein and fiber really are your friends. 🥗

Women experience chronic pain conditions at significantly higher rates than men. And they're also significantly more likely to be told it's stress, anxiety, or just part of being female.

Inflammation is the thread that connects so many of the conditions that disproportionately affect women — from endometriosis to fibromyalgia to autoimmune disease. And it's deeply intertwined with the hormonal cycle.

This carousel breaks down the inflammation-hormone connection and what's actually within your control. Because your pain is real — and understanding it is the first step to managing it. 💙
