This past week, Into Action Recovery was invited on a tour of Simon Fraser University’s Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology. The Museum features amongst its collections Haida argillite carvings, Plains regalia, historic glass, Naamboi jars, and much more. Our residents, many of whom are of Haida ancestry, were particularly moved by this opportunity. Thank you to Simon Fraser University for making this event possible! Hawaa

Congratulations to Kyle G. on 3 year of continuous sobriety! Our team looked for Kyle for a long time before he finally reached out to us; once here, the work began. Kyle took every suggestion and began to follow the path laid out before him. The process worked and Kyle transformed before our eyes. Today, he enjoys a standard of living far beyond anything he could have imagined in addition. Truly, his family—especially his daughter—could not be more proud of him and neither could we. Keep up the great work Kyle!

Congratulations to Kevin I. on 12 years of continuous sobriety! Kevin learned a great deal from us and has continued to practice those principles every day. Foremost amongst these is service. Truly, it is hard to find a person who was not helped early on by Kevin in some way. Over the years, Kevin has become a fixture around here and we are grateful for all his hard work. Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation; on this day, Canadians are asked to reflect on the painful legacy of residential schools. At Into Action Recovery, we recognize the importance of this day as not only one of reverence but also as one of action. As such, today, our founder and Executive Director, Chris B., took a group of our residents to a local observance to connect, remember, and look forward.

Truly incredible! Yesterday, we had hundreds of items to give away, boxes upon boxes. Our team of volunteers stood for hours handing out each essential item to those in need. This was truly one of our biggest events to date and we owe that to you all. Indeed, now, more and more people on the Downtown Eastside know about us and the help that we offer. Thank you to each and every person who shared or donated to our campaign. We could not do our important work without you!

Congratulations to a big part of our team Chris L. on 4 year of continuous sobriety! As one can easily see from the picture on the left, Chris came to us at a low point in his life. During this time, his mom would desperately call every hospital and morgue for news of her son. With us, Chris was introduced to a simple solution and he recovered. As a result, today, Chris lives a life beyond his wildest dreams and his mom not only knows peace but is prouder than she could ever have imagined. Keep up the great work Chris! We are all also very proud of you!

Congratulations to Adrian H. on 1 year of continuous sobriety! Adrian came to us when his life was in shambles; he had a little clean time but no program and needed something different. Here, he found just that. As he progressed through his stay with us, we saw a lost individual transform into an active member of the community. Today, Adrian lives in one of our sober living residences and is still just as committed to his recovery as he was on day one. Keep up the great work Adrian! We are all very proud of you!
