Talking about your feelings is not the same as 'feeling' your feelings.
When we talk about how we feel at a cognitive level, we may be bypassing the process of actually feeling the feelings.

Asking for help can be feel overwhelming at times. But what if it didn't need to be complicated, and we didn't have to have it all together all the time...

What if reaching out could be simple and honest, and look something like this:

"I’m having a really hard day. Do you have the capacity for me to vent for a few minutes? I don't need advice, just a listening ear."

"I’m overwhelmed tasks today. Could you help me with bringing over dinner?"

"I'm not okay, but I can't put it into words yet. I just wanted someone to know."

Sometimes, reaching out is the bravest thing you can do. Save this post for the next time your battery is running low. ✨

(Content Warning: Mentions of suicidal intent)

While AI language models are trained on millions of interactions, they lack human intuition.

According to researchers at Stanford University, AI bots can harbour deep stigmas against complex mental health conditions, and terrifyingly, they frequently failed to recognize subtle cues of severe distress or suicidal ideation during testing.

Therapy is fundamentally about connection, and finding safety in the presence of another person. A computer cannot hold space for human experiences.

It’s 2:00 AM, AI is free, and it's right there. 📲

We are living in a profound loneliness epidemic.
Finding a therapist can present many challenges at times, and when an AI chatbot offers instant, perfectly worded, affirming responses in the middle of the night, it feels like a lifeline.

Douglas Mennin, Professor of Clinical Psychology at Columbia, notes that AI’s validating quality is a "huge part of relational support," especially when people aren't getting that affirmation elsewhere.

But here is the danger of "pseudo-connection": ✋🏼

While these bots mimic human speech, relying on them can actually lead to further isolation. Research shows that heavy users of AI companions report increased levels of loneliness over time.

An algorithm cannot genuinely care for you. As humans, we are wired for connection, and true healing in therapy happens in the safe presence of another human being. Don't settle for a coded program when you are suffering. We are wired to heal through real relationship. 🌿

Generative AI is incredible at many things, but therapy isn’t one of them. 🛑

While the illusion of a human-like conversation can be comforting, experts at are cautioning against the rise of AI chatbots for emotional support.

One major risk? AI is programmed to build trust by offering affirmation. These models can often deliver completely incorrect— and sometimes clinically unsafe— information with absolute certainty. For someone in acute distress, AI's "people-pleasing" tendencies can accidentally validate harmful thoughts or behaviours as it lacks clinical boundaries.

Therapy isn't just about having someone agree with you; it's a collaborative human relationship, where a trained professional offers safety, support, and opportunities for genuine growth.

Your mental health deserves the safety of a human connection. 🤝🌿
