Summertime! What a time to be alive 😁 In TCM, we call this season late summer. It is a season of transformation and transition. We can all feel the abundant Yang energy around, but as the nights get shorter we can feel the Yin energy slowly start. Each season is related to an organ, where the energy will run through that area more prominently depending on the time of year. Late summer reflects the digestive system such as our spleen and stomach. You may have noticed a lack of appetite, or perhaps an increase in appetite depending on if the heat is affecting your stomach or spleen. Leafy green vegetables, oats, miso soup, pumpkin and squash are all fantastic foods that are easy to digest and also promote better digestive function.
We also can say that this is a great time to sit down and reflect, and digest the events that have happened to us. We can decide what worked, what didn't, and what we are going to continue to do for the rest of the year.
So enjoy the warm weather, but make sure to balance this abundant yang time with some relaxing yoga or peaceful meditation at night ✌️
