At INITIO Nuclear Medical Clinic, we’re lit up in blue this September to shine a spotlight on prostate cancer awareness. Today, we’re speaking with two of our leading experts:

Why Early Detection Matters

Prostate cancer often develops silently. The earlier it’s detected, the more treatment options are available.

✅ PSA Blood Test
The prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test measures a protein made by prostate tissue. If PSA levels rise, it may be a signal to investigate further.

✅ Pelvic MRI
A pelvic MRI can provide a deep, detailed look inside the prostate—offering more accuracy than a traditional physical exam alone. This allows doctors to detect tumors that might otherwise go unnoticed.

✅ PSMA PET Imaging
While CT and bone scans remain standard, PSMA PET scans are the most sensitive nuclear medicine test for identifying whether prostate cancer has spread.

What You Can Do

Talk to your doctor about PSA testing.
If you’re hesitant about a digital re**al exam, ask about a pelvic MRI.

Remember: digital exams still detect many tumors and remain an important tool.
