//WEEKEND CONFERENCE//

I am honoured to have been able to teach alongside my amazing mentor this weekend in Dallas, Texas!

Such a humbling experience to teach both future DCs and current practicing DCs small person mechanics.

All weekend I heard there was a need for small practitioners to inspire and teach other small practitioners how to adjust! I’m grateful I had the chance to train them in my techniques to make them confident and efficient clinicians.

Looking forward to continue teaching and supporting small practitioners world wide!

//ORTHOPAEDIC ACUPUNCTURE//

Today’s treatment! MCL and medial meniscus tear!

This patient had a lot of swelling in the left knee and pain points on the inside of the knee.

Treatment approach:
1️⃣ Acupuncture points in hands and feet empirically for ligamentous issues - ST36, GB34

2️⃣ Local points where pain is felt - both INSIDE the joint and into tight muscles

3️⃣Electrostimulate above points (wires shown) to increase circulation, release pain relieving peptides, and reset the nerve

4️⃣ Moxa (black stick on 🔥) to add heat specifically into tissue and inside joint, improve circulation, and reduce pain.

Have pain that has been bothering you for a long time and getting no relief?
Book in for your acupuncture treatment today to get rid of that pain!

CAM AND PAIN MANAGEMENT
Had the amazing opportunity to teach at UBC to the amazing pharmacy students on complimentary and alternative medicine’s approach to pain management! Thanks to my lovely volunteer for putting his body up for the students to learn from!
It was such an honour to see how excited future pharmacists are about collaborative and integrative care 🥰
Key take away from my lecture:
1️⃣Inflammation plays a MASSIVE role in the pain cycle - the more inflammation, the worse the pain. We need to quench the fire 🔥
2️⃣ Low dose naltrexone is wonderful pharmaceutical to help with reducing neural inflammation and reduce pain in autoimmune conditions. It is an immunoregulator
3️⃣ Acupuncture and neural therapy both work to increase the nerve threshold for pain signalling. By increase this threshold, it will be less triggered meaning less pain!
4️⃣ Monotherqpy is not the answer sometimes. Collaborative care and taking a 3 or 4 pronged approach is important for pain management and complex pain syndromes

Same expression, smoother lines!

The current need in the Botox world is to maintain expression and facial movement while preventing/reducing wrinkles.

There is a lot of fear that Botox will give you a frozen look - making you feel less yourself, claustrophobic in your skin, and inability to emote through facial movements. If that’s your goal, there’s definitely nothing wrong with that!

However, in expert hands you’ll achieve the look you want. Your doctor will use lower units to give you more of a natural look and higher units to give you a more exaggerated/frozen look.

Any patient who is new to neuromodulators, I always recommend starting low and coming back in 2 weeks to add more as you can always add units but you can never take it away. The other risk of going too high, too fast is the potential of a dropped eyebrow or eyelid - this will take 2-3 months to resolve.

Neuromodulator used: Botox
Units used: 12 - Forehead, 15 - frown lines

Botox 💉- it can look natural!

It can get a bad name sometimes because of previous trends of having a more overdone look. But most of my patients are new to neuromodulators (eg botox) and are only looking for prevention and a natural look.

With a lighter treatment in the correct spots, we can achieve a natural look and prevent static lines (wrinkles that are present without facial movements).

Prevention is 🔑!

This weekend I had the honour of speaking with at in Las Vegas! I am grateful to not only be representing small female adjusters but also asian women as well . The sentiments I heard a lot this weekend was that there aren’t enough small women adjusters being represented in the chiropractic field. They never get to see the variations or get direct feedback about their set ups. To get to work hands on with these doctors and to-be doctors and see the “small people will just have to figure it out and do it” mental obstacle shift to “small adjusters are just as strong and effective” was inspiring.

What an absolutely amazing experience this was. I hope to continue teaching small practitioner biomechanics in the near future and continue to absolutely SHATTER the perception that small adjusters aren’t as powerful as big adjusters.

✨EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT ✨

I am officially dually licensed!! 🎉
What does this mean for you?
1️⃣It means I can diversify your benefits and bill under BOTH naturopathic medicine and acupuncture

2️⃣ I can see ICBC patients and have a portion of my treatments covered by ICBC (FYI - you get 12 pre-approved acupuncture treatments through ICBC)

3️⃣ You can get acupuncture treatments and ND consults all in one visit, using your healing time much more efficiently
Being dually licensed means I can better serve my patients and ensure they get the treatments they need without worrying about running out of benefits quickly (yay! Peace of mind!)
If you suffer from chronic pain, digestive issues, or mental health conditions - pop into the clinic! In our first appointment we can talk about nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle changes AND get an acupuncture treatment in (see - isn’t it more convenient already? 😉)

Great information - Another reason why I LOVE TCM! Inflammation contributes/worsens:
1️⃣ Pain (e.g chronic muscle pain, low back pain)
2️⃣ Digestive issues (E.g IBS)
3️⃣ Skin issues (e.g eczema, psoriasis)

Acupuncture, diet changes, and supplements work synergistically to help with these issues and I’m loving the growing research behind these modalities!

Acupuncture activates inflammation-regulating pathways, tames cytokine storm in mice.
