Côte Saint-Luc Cat Trap Neuter Return Program

Côte Saint-Luc Cat Trap Neuter Return Program Trap, Neuter, Return, Maintain of Community Cats in Cote Saint Luc. The overpopulation of feral, homeless cats in our city is a huge cause for concern.

Cote Saint Luc officially launched a Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) program in March 2011, to humanely trap, sterilize, and return feral cats to their original territory. TNR is proven as the most humane and cost-efficient way of controlling and decreasing the numbers of homeless cats. Councillor Mike Cohen, with Committee Chair Diane Liebling, spearhead the initiative, and along with a dedicated group of volunteers run the program. Supporters include the Cote Saint Luc Animal Hospital, and the group is grateful for the financial support of the City of Cote Saint Luc. The committee maintains a hotline for residents to report feral cats in their area and works to educate the public about the importance of sterilizing cats and to inform the public about cat by-laws in Cote Saint Luc. Annual fundraising activities augment funding the committee receives to ensure the program can meet its objectives. Fundraisers have included an annual concert with the Musicians of the World Symphony Orchestra, a table at the Cote Saint Luc Mega Garage Sale in May, and and online raffle starting in September and going through to the end of November with the draw in December. Donations are always welcome, and tax receipts are available.

The cat has a home but, he is a ‘free roamer’. As I said below, I hope he stays safe but it is not against our byelaws to allow owned cats outside provided they have a collar and are microchipped and this cat does.

Hello CSL:

This cat is starting to show up more often on Sunnyhurst and Smart, here in CSL.

He or she is wearing a tracker collar and has a weird, stubby tail…perhaps from an accident?

I presume s/he has a home to return to so this is just a ‘heads up’.

I truly hope they stay safe.

Hello All:

People often ask why, when we have kittens, we insist that they be adopted in pairs or that they must already have a resident cat if they want to adopt only one kitten.

Believe me, it would be very easy just to say yes, get a single kitten adopted out, and that would be that.

However, over the years, as we have learned more about cat behaviour, there is something that has become evident called ‘single kitten syndrome’.

You can read about it here in the article below. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

So, we are not trying to be difficult. We are simply trying to assure the best placement for our kittens.
There are many rescues that feel as we do.

And, I’m sure, there are just as many rescues and shelters that have no problem adopting out a single kitten but, this is not something we ascribe to.

If you only want one cat, my suggestion would be to adopt an older one, where the personality is known, and where you can be assured s/he will be fine on its own.

Hello Friends and Followers:

We are starting a WINTER FELINE FOOD DRIVE to provide for our outdoor community cats, as well as our several cats and kittens in foster care.

🐈‍⬛🐾❤️🐈‍⬛🐾❤️🐈‍⬛🐾❤️🐈‍⬛🐾❤️🐈‍⬛🐾❤️

Community cats require 30% more calories in the winter to maintain their body temperature and a good way to do this is by adding kitten food to their regular diet.

So, even when we don’t have kittens under our care (but we do), kitten food is always much appreciated.

Any decent quality kitten or adult cat food is
fine.
eg: Royal Canin, Fancy Feast, Friskies, Purina One, IAMS, etc.
🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈

When possible, and if quantities allow, I will gladly help other rescues.

🐱🐾❤️🐱🐾❤️🐱🐾❤️🐱🐾❤️🐱🐾❤️

If you order from Amazon or Walmart and want to send it my way, please IM me for my home address.
⬇️❤️⬇️❤️⬇️❤️⬇️❤️⬇️❤️⬇️❤️⬇️❤️⬇️
(For those who are unaware, on Amazon/Walmart you can add an address… for instance, mine…instead of yours, for delivery to my house).

I can pick up if you’re not too far: CSL, Hampstead, Montreal West, NDG, Westmount.

🚘 🐾❤️🚗🐾❤️🚗🐾❤️🚗🐾❤️🚗🐾❤️

Drop off at my home in CSL is also a very good option and I would be truly grateful for that as well.

Thank you for donating, and helping those who cannot help themselves

Hello All:

These adorable kittens, around three months old, are still available for adoption.

Healthy, social, vaccinated (base), dewormed, and will be spay/neutered at the appropriate time. They will all be SNAP tested as well at their booster vaccination.

The gray tabbies are male, and the brown is a female.
The gray kittens are bonded and must be adopted together.
The little, brown tabby may be adopted solo as long as the adopter has another resident cat…or two.
(All kittens need a cat companion.)

https://kittencoalition.org/one-is-the-loneliest-number-single-kitten-syndrome-behaviors/

Adoption fees apply.

They are good with other cats, but they have not been tested with dogs.

Respectful children over the age of 8, with an initial supervision, is fine.

They are available for a ‘meet and greet’ after January 27.

Our kittens and cats are to remain exclusively inside and there will be a home visit for their protection.

Thanks,

Diane

UPDATE:
Foster found.
Thank you, everyone!

Hello All:

Because life likes to throw a curveball now and again (a change in living situation for the foster), we are looking for an experienced person to continue the socialization process for these two little nuggets that were found outside in CSL a couple of months ago.

They can be either fostered or ‘foster to adopt’.

They are ‘Huey’ (the gray and white kitty) and ‘Louie’(the gray tabby). They are about nine or 10 months old now and are both female.

Louie has become quite friendly and asks for pets but, Huey, is proving to be a bit more reluctant to interact with people.

Neither one of them is aggressive. They eat well and they reliably use their litter box.

They respond well to food enticement but just need more time to acclimate.

Food will be provided. Litter to be provided by the foster.

They get along well with other cats but, you should know that while Louie has been fully vaccinated (base and booster), Huey has only received one base vaccination because she was difficult to get into a carrier when the time came.🤦🏻‍♀️

Both have been spayed, dewormed, microchipped and have received revolution.

This is a time sensitive situation, so please contact me if you can help.

Thx

Diane

Hello All:

Glenda is a lovely, young tabby looking for her forever home.

She’s around two years old and was picked up here in CSL as a stray.
We know she was abandoned because she was so friendly.

Unfortunately, Glenda does not really like other cats and will do best as an ‘only’.

She is quite independent and will do well on her own, during the day, for somebody who works outside the home.

She has a hearty appetite and eats just about anything, although she does prefer her canned food.
Glenda is perfect with her litter and reliably uses her scratching post.

She has been completely vetted, including:
- vaccination and booster
- full deworming
-revolution
-spay
-microchip
-SNAP tested negative.

Adoption fee apply and there will be a home visit for her safety.

Glenda has not been tested with dogs and I am not recommending it.
Respectful children over the age of eight should be fine, with initial supervision.

If you would like to visit Glenda, please contact me here.

And, please share, so we can find Glenda the perfect forever home.

Diane

UPDATE:

Through no fault of anyone, ALL 3 kittens are still available for adoption.

Please keep in mind that adoption of any cat, especially a young kitten, is an 18 to 20 year commitment.

If you are a bit on the ‘older’ side (and don’t ask me what that number is… it’s not a hard and fast rule because it’s different for everybody)….you must have a back up plan should something happen to you and you are no longer able to care for your cat.

🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱

The two boys (the gray tabbies) need to be adopted together.

The girl, the brown tabby, can only go to somebody who has another resident cat.

🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾

Hello All:

These three adorable little munchkins were picked up on Christmas Day and are being wonderfully fostered by Car Vigderhous.

The two gray kits are male and the little brown tabby is a female.

The boys are possibly spoken for but, the little girl is still available.

They have received (or are in the process of receiving):

-Base vaccination and will get a booster at the appropriate time.
- full deworming.
-They will be neutered/spayed, and micro chipped at the appropriate time. (4-6 months old).
-SNAP testing to be done.

Adoption fees apply.

There will be a home visit for the welfare of the cats.

All of our cats are to remain strictly indoors.

Respectful children, over the age of eight years old, are fine with initial supervision.

They have not been tested with dogs.

If you’re interested in the little girl, whose name is Noel, you must have a resident cat to keep her company.
While a human companion is great we believe that all cats, and especially kittens, benefit by the presence of another cat in the household.

You can message me here.

Thx

Diane

Hello CSL:

If anyone is missing a tabby with a collar, he was spotted crying loudly outside the apartment building on Sir Walter Scott. (the Oakridge). This is near the library.
The kind person who saw the cat went and bought some food and fed him or her.
If this is your cat… And you’re letting it out in this weather and…it didn’t ‘escape’….
😿🤦🏻‍♀️

Please make an effort to keep your ‘outdoor access’ cats inside for the next several days. It’s brutal out there.🤦🏻‍♀️
