Wildcraft Nation

Wildcraft Nation Wildcrafted Medicinal Herbal Remedies and Art for the Soul Wildcraft Nation honours women and men seeking to renew their relationship with our Earth Mother.

We believe the uncultivated, the wild, the free-growing plants found anywhere on Earth are healing teachers in one manner or another, even in a city park. Wildcraft Nation believes the Earth and her Plant spirits have communicated their strengths and uses to humans since time immemorial, and that this is true for All Nations, essentially making all peoples ‘Indigenous to the Earth’, in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. We believe this knowledge is not lost, but rather is simply in need of being re-awakened through individuals collectively sharing, communing, and being in proximity to the herbs and the soil – physically and spiritually. Coming from this belief stand point, Wildcraft Nation offers authentic BC wild-crafted guidance and products to all people seeking to reconnect to their own Earthen Roots. As Wildcraft Nation – we are reconnecting from the ground up. https://wildcraft-nation.square.site/

Completed the pressure canning of one Moose Heart Soup - I got 11 quarts from it and a healthy portion for Sonny's supper in the fridge. Designed my custom labels for them and the 24 Moose Nose Soup jars I did a few days ago. One of my little touches that make me happy.
BTW - while both of these soups are not strictly traditional Cree recipes, they got the seal of approval from my mother-in-law, Mom Greyeyes the first time I canned them, (and are delicious), so that rates them tops in my books ;)

First batch of Moose Nose Soup Wildcraft Nation style canned - 10 quarts. 2nd batch brewing and simmering - a little larger as the nose was bigger. I have 14 quarts in the pressure canner now. Sonny ate 3 bowls of it and I have a large helping to take to my 93 yr young mother.

Moose nose prepping - took two to my sister’s yard to singe off the hair. I will begin chopping it up and putting it on to simmer. When we don’t have people nearby that love Moose Nose Soup like we do, I like to put it up in canning jars. 🙂

OUR SACRED PIPE IS often misunderstood by other cultures. Many refer it to it as a "peace pipe". That is a shallow interpretation. Our sacred pipe is a way to carry our prayers to the Creator. Below is a colorized photo of our Sacred Calf Pipe Keeper, Elk Head. He is the son of the Elk Head that was the Calf Pipe Keeper at our Sundance in 1876. When the name Elk Head was passed it remained as it was when the father had it...the same way our sacred name of Crazy Horse is passed.

We believe that the Creator is everywhere. Not just in one place. And so when we smoke the pipe, the smoke carries our prayers everywhere...which is where the Creator is...everywhere. The bundle wrapped in a buffalo hide to Elk Head's right is our Sacred Bundle. Inside the Sacred Bundle is our Sacred Calf Pipe. The buffalo hide that protects it is replaced every seven years at our annual Sundance in Green Grass on the Cheyenne River Rez. Elk Head is also holding a personal pipe in the photo. When a personal pipe has an extension beyond the bowl it means that the owner has a family. When there is no extension it means the owner is single. Our family and Crazy Horse believed in the sacred pipe and protected it. The stories are in our book "Crazy Horse the Warrior's Life and Legacy" at this link: https://reelcontact.com/collections/books/products/crazy-horse-the-lakota-warriors-life-and-legacy
