Sometimes the “small things” are actually your body asking for support.

Leaking when you laugh, discomfort during intimacy, tight hips, pressure… these are all signs your pelvic floor might need a little love.

If you’ve said any of these before, a pelvic floor physio can help. 🧡

EPISODE 8 IS LIVE! 🧡

Your pelvic floor does so much more than we were ever taught — and caring for it before birth can make a world of difference!

This week on the Healthy Families YYC Podcast, Dr. Lindsay sits down with pelvic floor physiotherapist Hilary McDermott to talk about proactive pelvic care during pregnancy.

They dive into:
• What’s actually happening to your pelvic floor while you’re pregnant
• Why waiting until postpartum to start care is outdated
• Myths like “don’t do core exercises” (let’s clear this one up 👀)
• How chiropractic + physiotherapy can work together to support your changing body

Whether you’re expecting, hoping to be, or supporting someone who is — this conversation is a reminder that pelvic health is a foundation, not another thing to add on once you’re overwhelmed with a new baby.

Tune in wherever you listen — link in stories and in our bio.

Each adjustment is gentle—using pressure ranging from what you’d use to check a ripe piece of fruit to the light contact needed to slide a coin across a table. It’s all about supporting their growing nervous system with care and intention.

Babies are the boss on the table. That means fussing, feeding, or snuggling mid-visit is completely okay. We follow their lead and meet your family where you are.

At Healthy Families, our intention is always to make you feel seen, heard, and supported.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the clinic and see your family thrive.

NOVEMBER HEALTHY HABIT - SOFIA 🩵

This month, Sofia is sharing one of her favourite Calgary spots — in Inglewood!

It’s one of her go-to local gems — a beautifully curated secondhand store filled with preloved fashion, thoughtful home goods, and locally made treasures. Sofia had the privilege of working there and saw firsthand how much care goes into every part of the experience.

What makes Change is Good truly special is its mission — it’s a social enterprise owned by The Calgary Dream Centre. Every purchase directly supports recovery programs for individuals facing homelessness and addiction.

So whether she’s hunting for a cozy sweater, a vintage find, or a meaningful local gift, Sofia knows her dollars are doing more than just making a purchase — they’re contributing to healing, sustainability, and change.

Shopping secondhand + supporting recovery = a habit we can all feel good about!

Healthy Halloween?

🎃 The scariest part of Halloween isn’t the costumes… it’s the sugar.

Dr. Lindsay’s kids think she’s totally crazy for saying that — they actually rolled their eyes when she told them she was doing a podcast about it. 😅

But here’s the truth: Halloween doesn’t have to leave kids wired, cranky, or sick. Families can keep the fun, laughter, and community without the crash.

It’s not about restriction — it’s about resilience. About helping kids (and parents!) enjoy the season and stay healthy through it.

In this week’s episode of The Healthy Families YYC Podcast, Dr. Lindsay shares:
🧡 How to prep your family before Halloween so their bodies can handle the sugar storm
🧡 Why chiropractic adjustments make a huge difference for regulating stress and immunity
🧡 Easy swaps and fun ideas that keep the joy, not the junk

Your kids might roll their eyes too — but parents will feel the difference.

Ever wondered why adjustments can look a little different from person to person?

In our office, we use a few different techniques — manual, drop table, and activator — and they all have the same goal: to help improve how your joints move more efficiently and reduce pain and inflammation.

The type of adjustment we use depends on you — your body, your comfort level and what will get the best results for your unique needs.

No two spines are the same, and your care shouldn’t be either.

🎃 It’s HALLOWEEN WEEK at Healthy Families!

If you’ve ever caught yourself nagging your kids about their posture — over and over again — this one’s for you. 🧡

You’re not alone, and here’s the good news: posture isn’t about perfection or constant reminders.
It’s about helping our kids’ bodies and brains work together — so sitting tall feels natural, not forced.

In this week’s episode of The Healthy Families YYC Podcast, we’re talking about:
• The difference between posture and alignment (and why it matters)
• What “sit on your bum, not your back” really means
• How kids can build great posture habits — without the nagging
• Simple ways parents and teachers can help

So if you’re ready to stop saying “Sit up straight!” on repeat… and start building healthy habits that last, this episode is for you!
