Tiny teammates in motion 🚂💥
These brothers are working on so many goals together through scooter activities: hand-over-hand movement, hand-eye coordination, bilateral movement, strength, teamwork, and focus. Every pull forward is building confidence, connection, and new skills along the way. 💙

In Conductive Education, “hand over hand” refers to a teaching and support technique where an adult gently places their hands over a participant’s hands to help guide a movement or activity. It can be used for things like:

Holding a spoon 🍽️
Reaching for an object
Completing a craft 🎨
Using mobility equipment
Learning dressing or self-care skills

The goal is not to “do it for” the individual, but to help them feel the movement pattern, build confidence, and encourage active participation. Over time, support is usually reduced as independence grows.

We are so grateful to The Urban Painter and the Paint4Good program for their generous support in helping refresh FACE’s space after the first stage of our renovations. Paint4Good is a community-minded initiative that gives back by providing painting services and support to local nonprofits and organizations, and we are truly thankful for their kindness in helping make our space feel bright, welcoming, and renewed for the families we serve.

Our renovations are an important part of FACE’s long-term plan to expand our capacity and serve more youth with neuromotor conditions in our community. By improving and adapting our space, we are creating the foundation needed to welcome more participants, enhance programming, and continue providing the specialized support families rely on. While other workplaces count numbers and deadlines, we celebrate first steps, stronger independence, confidence, determination, and moments families never thought possible.

Before program starts, our conductors and staff move like a fine-tuned machine, setting up with purpose, energy, and heart so every participant is ready to succeed.

The Totem Charitable Foundation is a Cochrane-based funder dedicated to supporting children, families, and vulnerable populations through impactful community programs. Their generous support of FACE’s Summer Camps for children with neuromotor conditions helps ensure that more kids can access fun, inclusive, and therapeutic summer experiences tailored to their unique needs.
