Through the hard times in life, we dig deep and start looking for answers. It was through my pain and suffering I was desperate for change. Crippled with anxiety and the effects of PTSD, I couldn't understand why my insides didn't match other people's outsides. I constantly judged myself based on what others were doing and compared it to how I felt inside.
No matter how hard I worked or my success at work, I still couldn't figure out how to experience peace or love. I didn't know it then, but I was running from myself. I didn't have the awareness I needed to understand what was happening. I walked around with a certain sadness behind my eyes, pretending everything was ok, but it was not working anymore.
When I look back at the amount of disappointment, fear, worry, and resentment I was carrying, it amazes me I was able to push through starting a business, have two amazing boys, and still being able to act like a professional, a friend, a father, a brother and a husband without coming unglued at the seams.
Now I know I had everything stuffed away deep inside myself so nobody could ever understand what I was experiencing and how disconnected I was.
Today, I understand why people are the way they are and how I became the way I was. I know how important it is to express yourself even when it feels like you can't. We are energetic beings, and if we don't take time to reflect and release built-up energy within our mind and body, it will manifest in all kinds of ways, like a tight grip holding us back from what we want to become.
No matter how someone behaves, try to show compassion and understand them. They may be bagging for help even if they don't want it.
