acupuncture is a beautiful tool to nurture the magik we already have within us

rooted in ancient Chinese Medicine

acupuncture can treat a variety of conditions by stimulating specific points on the skin with thin needles
this stimulation activates the body’s innate healing capacity, helping shift the body and mind back into balance

common conditions treated with acupuncture include:
- pain
- anxiety/depression/overwhelm
- digestive issues
- chronic fatigue
- menstrual & reproductive issues
- immune system strengthening
- nervous system regulation
- preventative tune-ups

each treatment is different, shifting as you evolve on your journey

acupuncture helps connect you to your vital life force within

remember that you are your ultimate healer

sometimes we just need a few tools & the space to help strengthen this knowing ✨

whether you have been feeling a bit off lately, struggling with something more serious or just curious to see what it’s all about!
book with me every Monday 1230-430pm @ CITCM intern clinic! link in bio ♥️

did I mention your initial appointment is FREE until January 31st? 😁

how are you feeling?

winter is here ❄️

ancient wisdom agrees it is a time to rest
to draw inwards
to soften
the most yin time of the year

try not to fall into the ‘new year new me’
very yang energy that can be bombarding

give your Self extra time to be
take away the extraneous tasks
shift your Self care rituals to slower, warmer, more reflective practices

remembering that nothing blooms all year round, take these few months to recover
to breathe a little easier, you are not missing out on anything
you are setting your Self up to shine brightly when the time comes
for now, it’s time to be quiet & still

in Chinese medicine, there are five elements that exist within us and around us
winter is associated with water, our kidneys & urinary bladder
a time to nourish our yin and conserve our energy

the colder, darker days invite us to journey into a more contemplative space
to rest and reflect
hello winter hibernation 🥰

some supportive practices may look like:
- drinking more tea
- wearing socks, scarves & dressing in layers
- nourishing your body with cooked, seasonal food
- going to bed earlier
- saying no, spending more time alone
- deepening or exploring a meditation practice
- shifting your movement practice to walking, yoga, qi gong
- getting outside in the morning to watch the sunrise
- taking an Epsom salt soak
- snuggling under a blanket and reading

what are some shifts you make during the winter season?

10.10

a powerful gateway

completion

new beginnings of another cycle

choose today to embody the transformative shifts your heart & soul have been asking for

start your day with a walk outside
drink an extra cup of tea
say a blessing over your meal before you consume
take some time to sit with your Self

soaking up some still-potent full moon vibes
make some space to reflect and reset

perhaps using some of these prompts to get your juices flowing ✨

how have you expanded recently?

what challenges have you faced that have allowed you to discover new depths of your soul?

what seeds are you storing for future planting?

how will you honour your Highest - today & going forward?

how will you prioritize your desires and dreams in your current reality?

remember
how blessed you are
love continuously surrounds you
you create your reality

be well ♥️

warming chicken congee

what is congee?
congee is a type of rice porridge, it can be as simple or as complex as you desire!

it’s super easy on the stomach as the rice is cooked for so long it makes digestion a breeze

congee is super nourishing and warming for the soul ♥️

you can leave out all the ingredients I’ve mentioned and just cook rice in bone broth // water if your stomach has been feeling a bit off
this will allow you to nourish while not contributing to further feelings of unsettlement

it’s a great meal to use up your turkey // chicken carcasses in!
instead of making a pot of turkey soup, try some turkey congee!
especially after a weekend of heavier eating, this could be a really nice way to start your week 🥰

congee is as versatile as you can imagine it to be - try using up your leftovers in there!

have you ever tried congee before? tell me your favourite way to make yours ⬇️

my new daily multivitamin

I have never been one for supplements
always trying to receive my nourishment through foods and herbs

once I accepted that my nourishment was not serving me as I desired, I began seeking what I could include to feel more vibrant and energized

what did I keep coming back too?

raw beef liver

believe me - it was pretty wild to go from being plant-based for 7 years to sourcing a beautiful beef liver and chopping it up 🙈

but also
it felt so right
so natural and primal
to connect with this beautiful, nourishing energetic organ and experience the difference internally & externally

food is more than just fuel - it provides our cells with information
when we nourish our cells, our bodies can function in optimal performance

why raw beef liver?

it is the ultimate ‘supplement’
a powerhouse of bioavailable nutrients

it is the most nutrient-dense natural food in the animal & plant kingdom!

it provides an extremely rich source of essential minerals & vitamins that support immunity, muscle building, blood, energy, vision and fertility

it’s full of vitamin A (retinol - a mandatory nutrient found in animal foods), D, E, K, B12, folate, iron, copper, magnesium, selenium, zinc and more!
all of these are essential for energy production (ATP), enzyme activation (how your body carries out tasks), iron recycling, nervous system functioning, antioxidant support and thyroid health.

eating it raw can be a very ancestral experience
the iron can be tasted right away
you can also chop it super small & freeze it - there is no taste if it is frozen!

traditionally, organ meats were sacred and given to warriors & expectant mothers

start throwing back 3 little cubes each morning to begin your day with some warm water or tea
to not cold-shock your stomach & spleen
or leave the frozen cubes out for a bit to thaw 😈

it’s still fairly new in my life but already I notice the difference
I feel nourished

ensure you are purchasing your meat from a trustworthy source so you know it will nourish you as it should
choose grass-fed and finished, organic to ensure it’s free of toxins, GMO’s & artificial feeds

remember
nature ALWAYS provides

this has been a GAME CHANGER in my daily nourishment!

it is a whole health tonic loaded with essential minerals to support overall wellness

bone broth is rich in gelatin - a broken down form of collagen which is found in the connective tissues
its full of amino acids that have anti-inflammatory properties & support the immune system
it contains high amounts of glucosamine and chondroitin which supports healthy joints
it also contains loads of B vitamins like niacin and riboflavin which play a role in metabolism and help your body breakdown carbohydrates, proteins and fats to produce energy

I have been making a big pot 2x/week
I usually get about 3L out of one pot and I sip on a big cup each morning
I feel nourished, grounded and charged up for my day!
I also use it as the base for my soups, stews, sautés (instead of oil) and to cook any grains with

you can keep it simple or add in as many herbs to help make it extra medicinal 🌱
use what you have on hand or choose what is calling to you

you can also reuse your bones!
we are extracting the minerals from the bones, each time you use them to make your broth, they may break up into smaller pieces
I can typically use my bones 3-4x before they begin to crumble and we have extracted all the minerals from them
in between making the broth, I keep my bones in the freezer

swipe for my recipe and make sure to save this post! you can also find it on my blog 😘

are you in the bone broth tribe?

jie mu gu syrup
aka elderberry syrup

to fully immerse my Self in my eastern herbal studies
I have been making an effort to use herbs’ Chinese names - it’s been a good challenge for my brain 🙈

meet an elixir you can find in my fridge all fall & winter long
making it your Self allows you to add in all sorts of goodness and doesn’t take much time at all!

the ingredients I’ve added support wei qi (immunity), aid in warming the body & provide antioxidants to help balance your systems ♥️

make sure to save this recipe to give it a go on your next kitchen-witchin’ day 🧙🏻‍♀️

let me know what you add into your healing syrup!

are you feeling the transition?

the last burst of growth of summer before harvest // fall begins?

welcome late summer

in chinese medicine, late summer is our fifth season that begins around the third week of august and runs until fall equinox

the intense yang of summer is beginning to soften as the cooler yin energy of fall is arriving

this season is connected to the earth element
our stomach and spleen are the corresponding organs

this is an important season of Self-nurturing

use the last of summer’s powerful energy to initiate transformation and ripening

if you have weak stomach & spleen energy
you may feel lethargic, struggle with irritable bowels, nausea, weight gain or blood sugar disorders
if you stomach & spleen are flowing in harmony, your digestive system may be feeling more balanced than usual

we rely on our digestive system for physical and emotional support
not only do we digest our food, also our thoughts, interactions and emotional experiences

fostering harmonized stomach & spleen energy provides a foundation for whole mind-body-soul well-being

scroll through for some lifestyle, nourishment & spiritual practices to capture the magik that is late summer energy

remember
you are blessed and endlessly supported
you have nothing to worry over
all is as it should be and all is well

our 24-hour day is divided into 12 2-hour intervals where the qi (vital life force) moves through each organ system

chinese medicine practitioners can use this clock to determine which organ is responsible for dis-eases

for example
if you find your Self waking up between 1-3am you may have unresolved anger that is bothering you or a liver condition
if you are struggling with back pain at the end of the day, 5-7pm, you may have excessive fear you need to confront or maybe kidney issues

this clock is based off of the cyclical ebb and flow of energy throughout the body

during sleeping hours, qi draws inwards to restore the body
between 1-3am the liver cleanses the blood which completed this phase and the qi begins moving outwards again

in the morning, the organs our qi cycles through are responsible for elimination and digestion

by mid-afternoon, our qi begins flowing inwards to support organs associated with restoring and maintaining our system
they move fluids & heat, filter & cleanse

understanding each organs schedule offers you a chance to identify which of your organ systems or emotions needs support or strengthening

allow you body cues and symptoms to guide you
if you get sleepy between 5-7pm perhaps you should look into strengthening your kidneys
(enjoying a baked sweet potato sprinkled with black sesame seeds for breakfast is a great kidney boost!)
also, look at the emotional aspect - if you are sleepy during kidney time do you have underlying fears you are refusing to deal with?
address the emotional imbalance to help strengthen your kidneys and boost your overall health!

if it speaks to you, take a deeper look at this rhythm and observe you energy throughout the day

bring your awareness to times of lethargy/tiredness/pain in specific areas

learn to tune into your body/emotions and what they are trying to tell you

I have been a bit quiet on here this summer

after writing finals at the end of July
I have been soaking in each moment of my few-week break 😊

lots of time outside
walking, running, hiking

more time on my mat
breathing, playing, being

getting back into lifting at the gym with my babe 😈

more reading
lots of nourishing
focusing on play & spontaneity

slowly getting my brain back into study mode

I am excited to share more chinese medicine wisdoms
and
some fun little projects I have been working on in my downtime

many wishes your summer has been recharging, full of smiles & love

remember

you are smart
you are strong
you are loved
you are magik ✨
