Meet Viktoriya, our nurse practitioner! 👩🏻⚕️
Doctorate prepared, Viktoriya practiced nursing in the US and Canada for over 15 years and obtained her Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner degree through Athabasca University. Viktoriya’s nursing career started in the US after a tragic car accident that left her unable to walk for 6 months. Being a high school exchange student and living a continent away from her family, Viktoriya faced some challenges of the medical system and found her calling in healthcare. After spending Christmas at the hospital surrounded by wonderful nurses, Viktoriya knew that she wanted not only to save patients’ lives but help them achieve the ultimate wellness that incorporates mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of life.
As a Registered Nurse, Viktoriya worked in a variety of settings over the past 15 years - cardiology, long term care, rehabilitation services, emergency room, pediatrics, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She has also taught several courses including women’s health and pediatrics at two universities located in Tulsa, OK, US.
After moving to Canada and completing her Doctorate degree, Viktoriya decided to further advance her career and become a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner. Being able to perform assessments, order diagnostic tests, prescribe or deprescribe medications, collaborate with other specialists through referrals, allowed Viktoriya to fully participate in her patients’ care and address their health concerns in an evidence-based, holistic, and respectful manner. Although trained to provide care to all patients of different ages, Viktoriya has been passionate about addressing overall women’s health, pregnancy and postpartum care, and providing services to pediatric population.
When not working, Viktoriya spends lots of time cycling, running, practicing hot yoga, spending time in the mountains with her family, gardening, cooking different ethnic foods, and traveling the world.
