January can often be a time where people start to feel the โ€œwinter bluesโ€ with a post-holiday slump and cold dark days ahead. Itโ€™s important to take care of yourself during the winter months and prioritize your mental health!

1. Get sun exposure - spend time outside during the daylight hours or sit near a window.

2. Move you body - even gentle movement like walking or yoga, can boost mood and energy levels, reduce stress, and increasing feel-good chemicals like dopamine and serotonin.

3. Stay connected - reach out to friends, family, or support networks. Social connection is a powerful antidote to feelings of isolation!

4. Practice self-compassion - Itโ€™s okay to feel unmotivated or sad. Allow yourself to feel these emotions without judgment.

5. Seek professional support - If feelings of sadness or hopelessness persist, reach out for help. We are here to support you!

๐ŸŽ Holiday Season Reminder from Through the Woods Psychology
This time of year can bring a lot of pressureโ€”pressure to be perfect, to buy the best gifts, or to feel a certain way.

We want to offer you a gentle reminder: You are enough, just as you are.

Give yourself the gift of acceptance this holiday season. You don't need to do more, be more, or change anything about who you are right now. Your worth isn't tied to your productivity, your cheerfulness, or your to-do list.

Take a deep breath and remember to be kind to yourself. Wishing you a peaceful and accepting holiday. ๐Ÿ’šโค๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ข How Does Your Body Say "No!"? ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ
Your body has an incredible way of communicating when you've reached your limit, but we often miss the signs!

This infographic from Through The Woods Psychology highlights common physical manifestations of stress, overwhelm, or feeling unsafe. Recognizing these signals is the first step toward better boundaries and self-care.

Do any of these feel familiar?

Tightness and tension in the body
Persistent fatigue or heaviness
A knot in your stomach
Heart palpitations
Jaw clenching or difficulty speaking up

Listen to your body's wisdom. It's not just a feelingโ€”it's a physical signal telling you to slow down, take a step back, or change course.

Prioritize your well-being. If you're struggling to hear what your body is telling you, we're here to help you connect the dots!
